PS3 Firmware 1.92 Problems

So, update 1.92 was released shortly ago. It downloaded great, but during the install, my PS3 crashed. I lost everything. All my save data, pictures, downloaded movies, everything. Needless to say, I am pretty pissed off. Not that I care if it happened to anyone else, I just needed some place to vent.

 

Is PS3 still working after crash ? or did you have to give it away to some service ?
I think of some sort of ups for updates time..

 

Ouch. What happened? Power failure or just a PS3 fuck up?

I believe the PS3 has protection against bricking, so at least you're okay in that regard (right? >_<).

 

I had problems with my internet connection, so I'm downloading the patch right now. Hell..... I am reading this at the same time and it kinda scares the shit out of me. Sorry to here that mate....

Anyway, the PS3 couldn't delete all your data, right? So either it's a Hard Disk error, due to the power failure, or the data is still somewhere, but the profile is gone.... Just a guess....

 

Sorry to hear about this dude. Maybe you can phone Sony and see if they can do some form of data recovery?

 

Not sure. The system crashed. It was half-way through the install bar when the screen turned black, and after 10 minutes or so I just turned it off. When I turned the system back on after the crash, it asked me to reformat the drive. The system is not bricked, I just lost everything on the hard-drive.

I got the replays off the system before I did the upgrade. No worries. Plague should have them.

I plan to upgrade in the near future so I can go to the PSN Store and purchase some games. I believe a system needs to be up to date to view the store (and go online for that matter /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif )


A bit off topic. I have problems playing music CD's on my PS3. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I noticed it right before I left for Evo. It reads the disk and notices the amount of tracks and playing time but when you actually go to play the CD it doesn't see all of the tracks.

I put one CD in and the PS3 did not show the first 4 tracks but the rest were fine. I put another CD in and the first 2 tracks came up and skipped tracks 3-6 and then the rest were available. I tried with multiple CD's afterward and received either result; tracks 1-4 or 3-6 missing.

When I got back from Vegas I popped in a CD to check if the same results would pop up. It got worse. It would not show any tracks before track 11.

I have been away for a week. I'll check the status on it when I get home later today.

 

Store bought CDs or home made CDs? Not sure if it'll make a difference...but you never know. =/

 

They were official CDs.

My CDs are playing fine now. I noticed that the CD information was giving errors. I turned off the media server and the CD info started working again and all the tracks to my CDs showed up.

 

If anyone is having problems connecting online just delete the PS3 cache. Worked for me.

The 1.92 update apparently makes the browser faster (and possibly all of the online functionality) but consequentially introduced an error that can randomly toss you off the network. Something the people who launched Warhawk are not too pleased with to say the least, it being a network only title and all.

I feel a bit of Spaceballs coming up now:

And now people are having problems with 1.93. Thank God my system updated with no problems.

 

Woooo? Glad I didn't update to 1.93, but WTF sony. They need to get their shit together and stop doing these little quick fixes.

You don't simply mean have the PS3 recheck the network settings do you?

 

Ya, something like the download stopping at 4% and then eventually telling you it got disconnected or something. Weird error. Just retry till it works.

 

Use the PS3 browser, even if it doesn't show a page hit triangle, go into tools, cache option is there so are cookies, delete both.
