1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

PS3 online connect for VF5 possibility?

    Hi,

I was told that a long time ago, someone in USA created a website called xboxconnect to enable xbox owners to play Halo 1 online on their xbox against other players.

I'm not familiar nor do I have the time to figure things out like this, but I was just posting and see if there's anyone in this USA forum that perhaps have the knowledge, time and desire to do something similar.

If it's funds that you don't have but the above 3 you do have, perhaps I'll be willing to fund it and it's also a good idea to make the site subscription only to prevent spoiled rude brats from ruining our day.

There are a few programs that via PC can have an Xbox system link through a TCP/IP connection. I used a program called Xlink/Kai.

If a game has system link support then you can technically link up Xbox's to each other by setting up a virtual domain as long as each person's Xbox and PC were connected to a router.

Halo had system link support built in but not Xbox Live. Xbox Live infrastructure wasn't fully ready when Halo was in development.

This cannot be done for VF5 on PS3. Sega has stated that it was developed without any network features.

It can't happen unless you can emulate the PS3 environment and reverse engineer it and that is not happening anytime soon.

Here's what you need to do dude, only way I can think, and tbh it's freaking ridiculous /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif :

Firstly buy a great video capture card for the Host.

Plug a PS3 stick into the usb port on the guest PC.

Write a program that encapsulates the PS3 stick signals from the USB port and transmit them over a TCP connection to the host machine.

Connect a USB cable from a Port on the Hosts PC, to one of the ports on the hosts PS3.

Write a program that transmits all the signals recieved from the guests Stick, to the Hosts PS3.

Split the video signal from the host PS3 and send a signal to the capture card and another to the tv. .

Write a program that encapsulates the video signals from the capture card and transmits them over the network.

Write a program on the guests PC to display the video signals.

Take a copy of all known frame data for the game and burn it.

Or, thinking about it, a better idea would be to split each joysticks input signals, then sync them before sending them to a each respective ps3. Which would probably result in a game that was in sync but without a constant frame rate, so all your timing cues would have to be based visually.

Definitely wouldn't work because although the input frame rate would fluctuate depending on the net connection, the game framerate would be a constant 60fps, so you would end up with a game that would constantly pause while the game waited for input.

But if you think about it, most of the reflexes and responses you'ld worked out and trained so hard for would become invalid anyway because the FPS can't be guaranteed, which I guess is why Sega don't want it.

Yea, I had the Halo 1 online mod. It worked, a little laggy, but it worked just fine.

The reason it worked is because you can hook up xbox's on a LAN and the game was set up for that. The program just made your xbox think it was on a LAN when it wasnt. Too bad VF does not support this...

I dont think its possible without a major software update from Sega. What would be their incentive to do this? They would have to spend $100k at least to develope it. I dont know that they'd make their money back. (Although I'd like to see it!)
