Ok i dont have a Arcade stick so whats the best button set up. Atm i have r1 as guard square as Punch and X as kick this allows me to press all button combinations but im finding it tough for harder combos. Any tips?

    I like Square = Guard, R1 = Punch, R2 = Kick. And I prefer using a PS2 pad if possible.

The reason for this is that I am an arcade stick player, and this setup has the same fingers pressing the same buttons. R2 is a bit awkward on the PS3 though, because of the trigger, but it's been fine for me when I have played on pad.

I always figured whatever you find most comfortable/intuitive is what you should use.

    For me:
    X - guard
    Square - punch
    Triangle - kick
    Circle - throw
    L1 - P+K
    R1 - K+G
    L2/R2 - P+K+G

Been using this set up for years. Allows me to hold the controller normally - index fingers work the the back triggers, and I just use my thumb for the main buttons. Gotta use X and square to throw escape buffer though.

    I've always stuck with this:

    X - [P][+][K]
    Square- [G]
    Triangle - [P]
    Circle - [K]
    L1 - [P][+][G]
    R1 - [K][+][G]
    L2/R2 - [P][+][K][+][G]
