1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

    hey everyone,
Well it looks like all 'next gen' consoles are finally out!
I'm typing this from my PS3 console right now!

I recently got a PS3 and Resistance and am loving it! GTHD, Motorstorm, and mashing in Tekken will keep me busy until VF5 hits.
I did try a Wii and it was a lot of fun as well!

Who else in this forum has taken the plunge and bought either console?

Are you happy with your purchase?

Any tips and tricks to share?

My advice: Get a usb keyboard if you plan on browsing with your PS3, it's a pain in the ass without one... even if the predictive text works well.

I have a PS3, a Wii, and an Xbox 360. They all pretty much suck right now; my PS2 is still my best game machine (that or my PC). VF5 will go a long way in rectifying that, I hope.

so is it official that the USB converters on the market won't work w/ older PS2 sticks w/out some kind of Analog function?

The PS button on the sixaxis is basically the analog button on the PS2.

The PS3 uses the analog/PS button to recognize the controller and assign it as a usable device. Without it, the PS3 will not recognize it with most converters. Unless there is a converter that includes an analog/PS button on itself, I don't expect any current PS2 sticks to work on the PS3 through a converter.

Actually, there are several converters that work, the problem is finding a converter that A) works with sticks and B) doesn't lag.

The people at Tekkenzaibatsu reports that this converter from Elecom...

You'll have to get someone in Japan to purchase this and send it to you though, since it's impossible to buy otherwise it seems.

Markman was testing it and posting preliminary results on NeoGAF. So far it looks really good. I'm sure he'll either make a post here, or I'll just quote him here when he's done.

the hori budget stick, probably as good as the DOA stick on the 360

pelican adapter for $10, no guarentees it wont have the same analog button conflict as most of the pc converters, but im pretty sure it should work. Nyko also announced a converter for $15 releasing sometime soon too.

edit: ps3 is good stuff, linux homebrew should really make this worthwhile. Still looks though PS2 will win the console wars in 2k7. not a typo.
