PSN Bad Games

Admirable, but I don't dislike the guy enough to call in the Sega death squad to wipe him off of the boards. As someone noted earlier, he is a really high rank. Disconnect shenanigans aside, in order for him to be THAT high he has to have beaten some semi-good players along the way.

Atleast I'd like to think so.

That being said, I'd be satisfied if Sega had a special rank for people like him. Like "D/C King" or "PlugPuller" or something a little more creative.

 

Well, from what I gathered, he hardly ever wins against decent players, let alone good ones (at his current rank).

Taken no one here pulls intentionaly, we COULD assume, that by pulling at the very end of the match (as he does), does in fact INCREASE his EXP bar, albeit slighly. You know, as when losing to a high lvl player as, lets say, 1st Dan.

We can't exactly test that either. Maybe with dummy account, but I have no time for that.

edit: Yea, special title like that would be grand. Maybe with his own leaderboard ;P

 

Instead of taking people who cheat and with bad connections of online for this game i think its just better to pair them up with other people who do the same thing.

 

Haha. He just beat me one game and then sent me a long message about how much I suck. Then he challenged me again and I won 3-0. Felt kind of satisfying. ^^

Unfortunately, that is incorrect. In VF5FS, you cannot be demoted past Hunter rank. And all the way up until Hunter, you gain rank even when losing. So a player could rank all the way up to Hunter without winning a single game (though it would take forever). Once you're at Hunter or above, you gain rank for all wins of Hunter and above. That means even at his current rank (DarkSlayer) he can still rank up off of Hunters who only got there by filling a seat.

I also want to mention that this petition is not about hating an individual. Its about removing those who would be abusive to a system. Like if someone wins the Olympics and is found to have cheated they take back the medal. If those with terrible disconnects are removed from the ranking system, they'll have to at least start cherry-picking matches like everyone else. But in that case, they end up near the rank they're supposed to be at, not far above it.

Aren't you the one who was saying "Don't feed the troll"? This guy has no morality when it comes to playing on the internet, and he loves all the hate mail he gets. So if Sega gives him his own special title, don't you think that makes the problem worse? Then he gets to brag for years about how he abused the system and got a hilarious reward for it.

I'm still a noob in all of this, haven't been playing against other human beings until VF5FS, so I never know if I'm scrubby or not. I try my best, though!

 

I think the best solution would be simply to match up disconnect rating. So if 4 equals Green Smile and 1 equals Red Face then just do the following

4's can play anyone
3's can play anyone except 4's
2's can only play 2's and 1's
1's can only play other 1's

Rage quitter Hell would be the best solution

Either that or simply demote him to 11th Kyu and he can only get up to 10th Kyu when he gets a Green Smiley face back

 

I agree with most everything you just said. Still I would want something, anything, to distinguish a player that got to the top of the leaderboards by cheating from those that got there by putting in their due.

Maybe a special badge could be seen as a mark of honor. I agree. But there has to be some way to shame these individuals.

I'm completely open to any ideas, however, I'd assume that whatever ideas we have will be just that...an idea. I doubt Sega would take any steps to resolving many of the issues we currently have with this game.

 

What about stripping them of title privileges entirely, but only from the opponents perspective? That way, they still think they're trolling their way to the top, but have no impact on any ranked matches whatsoever?

 

This will not work. If you think about your limits carefully, you will easily realize that they means not only 1 can play only 1, but also 4 can not play anyone except 4

 

I agree with you that if it is just a hard filter, then yeah, it doesn't work. I should have been more explicit, sorry about that.

Basically if I'm a 4, I have the option to say I will accept 1 through 4 (Normal case). Now if I go into my "filter options" and say "No Ones" then I'll only see 2 through 4 and can't be hassled by one's. Basically, you have the option to completely remove yourself from bad disconnect people, whereas bad disconnect people are at the mercy of good disconnect people.

The idea being that you lock off bad disconnect people from being able to find any matches. It's not the best system but I think it would help since then you wouldn't have to even think about playing people with bad disconnect ratings

I know right? I tend to always be down 2-0 in ranking when I come back for the win. That is when you should be downloading...not raging!

 

Ideally the system might bust pullers down to 10th dan until their connection smiley improves. If they rank up and do it again, make the demotion permanent.

It's really hard to make a system that won't get gamed. Almost every leaderboard for a given game on XBL or PSN has people who abuse the system at the top ranks. I'm assuming the feature isn't important enough to be worth the effort to police.

 

BGs to my awful internet connection today. to those who played me and were adversely affected by the lag and/or eventual random disconnects (although it doesn't reflect on my green smiley), i apologize.

i don't know why, but at random points of the day, my internet connection completely shut down. i have to figure out why that happened. :\

First, CODWAWABCf. Dude, do you talk to your mother with that mouth? It sucks to have a cool room going with a group of random guys all cracking jokes and having fun, then some 12 year old comes in saying every racial slur, sexist term, and negative comment possible. This is the internets, so I should be used to that, but it sucks to let crap like that ruin a good time.

Also, he was an incredibly shit player. So there's that...

Second, BG to Sega. For not including a damn mute button so stuff like this can be easily rectified without closing a full room just to start a new one. Seriously...how do you overlook a friggin' mute button!!!

 

Hahaha that COD kid came into numbers room the other day, numbers was clowning hard, lmao. He is awful at the game and alot of regulars seem to know and troll the kid..

 

I don't understand how you can even play with that plethora of noises going on in the background. I was having a pretty close game with GoTigers9999 while this kid was playing with the voice changer feature on his PS3. Good lord, felt like playing while monkeys bang on your head with blunt objects...

The room host was trying to clown him though...made it somewhat bearable...
