Punishment list

New to the game, coming over from Soul Calibur. I understand the gist of the differences in how frames work between the two games, what I'm looking for mainly is a list of punishable moves for each character.

Right now I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of free damage, and letting people use strings they really shouldn't be getting away with.

 

I don't think anyone putout a definitive punishment list for each character for VF5. I'll check or perhaps work on writing up one.

You can check characters movelists and look for moves that recover after +12 after been guarded.

For starters, almost all launchers and sweeps if blocked can be punished.

Characters who have long attack strings mostly have a weakness; the last hit will be high and can be ducked or if blocked mid or low should be able to go for a guaranteed hit.

 

The character's movelists are somewhere here in the dojo I'm guessing? I'll poke around and post the link here if I find it, if not I'm sure someone else knows where to get it.

loledit: it's right on the damn sidebar. A punishment list would be pretty useful though, for quick access.

 

In the wiki you'll find some characters have counter tables that describe the best punition for each situation.

Yeah I noticed that, and definitely some good info in the wiki, but it's not really a list of punishable moves for the characters, it's a list of what moves to punish WITH. Other than reading through everyone's frame tables, there isn't an actual punishment list out there yet.

 

You said it yourself, everything you need is there. Look at guard advantage you get after blocking an attack, then compare with attack executions... If the execution time < block stun, you can punish with the attack. There will be exeptions because of idiosyncracies with different moves (they push too far away, etc.) but you can put together a basic list right there.

It's not that easy anyway... play the game. Try (what you think are) stupid stuff once in a while... you might find something useful. I do all the time.

Note that not all moves are punishable just because of frames - range, special stances, strings etc affect it.
