1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Query for Myke - Frame comparison

Discussion in 'Site News, Questions and Feedback' started by kurdt_the_goat, Mar 1, 2007.

  1. Just to give everyone a brief intro, i'm just getting started with VF4Evo. I've always had an interest in the VF series and 3d fighters in general, mainly because of a strong interest in 2d fighters when i was younger. Unfortunately this is what kept me from getting into 3d fighters cause i just couldn't shake my 2d mindset! Thankfully, this great site and the VF4Evo training modes are helping to overcome that.

I have a suggestion for the site that i think would be useful, and hopefully within the realms of possibility.

While trying to learn about frames, i found the diagrams showing execution, hit and recovery ( here ) incredibly easy to understand, much moreso than the numbers in the moves listings.

Since it appears all those move listings are stored in a database, i thought it'd be awesome if you could have a move comparison tool. You'd choose 1p and 2p's moves, and various properties/timings of the move, submit and it'd draw one of the graphs for you easily depicting which character would come out with the advantage or the hit etc.

Is that possible? Bear in mind, i haven't really begun to learn the frame for myself and i'm not 100% certain how useful this feature'd be, but i just found myself wanting to compare moves easily, to get a better idea where to start learning the frames. So with that said, anyone else feel free to add whatever to this discussion!

That's not a bad suggestion coming from a goat /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif and it certainly would be possible.

I'm imagining that you select two moves, give either player an advantage, and the graphically display the outcome, much the same way I did it in the frames guide that you linked.

I have received other suggestions in the past to enhance the utility of the VFDC command lists, so I'll certainly add this to my list.

    Thanks again!

Myke, if you want help with this (or want me to just take a crack at implementing it) I'm down. I've been thinking about something similar for my own purposes, anyway.
