Quitting Early...

So yesterday I played Ranking after a loong hiatus, I wanted too totally finish Quest and filled up the rest of my VF time with Player matches.

Anyway, its not like I played that many people, but last night no less than 3, with higher ranks and higher win'lose ratios quit early on me.

One used an Aoi character, who won 2 rounds (kinda cheaply) but I got their measure and thrashed them next two rounds. Last round? They back off and suddenly the connection drops.

Similar with an Akira guy, he was 2 or 3 ranks above me, and a very good win/lose ratio, and I hammered the guy. Complete whitewash, he was using elbows that I easily blocked and countered. End of the last round? Final knockout blow and before his body can hit the ground the connection is lost.

WTF man. Its a game. Get over it. Anyway the point of this thread is, can I post their gamertags, so that people can avoid these people.

If I can, I'd like other people to post gamertags of people that drop early on them during ranked matches.

vfdc already had a long thread addressing this subject. It kind of turned into an unnecessary witch hunt.

I figured there might be a thread already, but couldn't find anything. Also, I was thinking this could turn into a whole witch hunt thing, so I refrained from mentioning any names.

They shall have to stay as avoided players /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Also, they weren't Japanese, I think they were from the UK as well. I never play a ranked game that doesn't have at least 2 bar in the connection, and I prefer to have over 3 bars. This means I disregard most players from the Far east... Its my failing that I can't cope with dodgey lag, so I just try to avoid it altogether.

I get the mental image of some snotty 16 eyar kid getting all riled up when they get pwned as they pull their wireless out or something. What gets me about the 3 guys who did this to me yesterday, is their abilty did not reflect their ranking at all. Its like driving a modified MR2 trying to pass it off as a Ferrari, it just doesn't hole up under casual scrutiny!

Ah well. Hold on, when they drop, does it affect my ranking points? I didn't take any notice last night.

With the penalty to pulling early it isn't as common as it used to be and people from the UK pulling that is odd. That isn't like them , they tend to take their licks just like an American does even if it is a mismatch. Any way we shouldn't be focusing on this since it isn't as wide spread as it was before the penalty was put in place

Heh, I just found that other thread, 35 pages! Dayum.

I have to say, when I get pwned (and it happens a lot sometimes) I take my licks and learn what I can.

Last night I used 'quick match' and joined the first decent connection I could. Except it was against a Master Shun, and I'm a mere 4th Dan Sarah.

Needless to say he pwned me, and I learned a valuable lesson. Look before you leap.

Tikgnat, just be sure to give people the benefit of the doubt; as a lot of times the explanation for people dropping could be a connection failure.

I've never pulled on anyone, but there have definatley been a few times that my connection has dropped at the exact moment the other player beats me in a ranked match. I have a good connection- but due to the nature of the internet these "anomallies" (spelling?) are going to happen from time to time.

Of course, if this was the case for the players you faced, they should have had the common courtesy to send you a message letting you know what happened.

My connection go's everytime the land-line rings. F*ck knows why..?? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I'll never pull out of a fight. So if you're playing me and the con go's you know my phone's ringing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

If you play me and I pull it is because I pulled. =P

Seriously I never pull for anything. I really do not understand why people pull. If you lose then take the loss like a big man.

I think we should have a list of players who often quit so the rest of us can avoid wasting time on a match we can't win.

One particular player who's been making me mad with this is getsmax. He's an asian player who quits everytime I beat him 2 rounds. 3 matches in a row he's done it. Don't play this guy! It baffles me that he has 1000+ losses if he quits so easily.

Despite the rank loss on quit, people are still doing it. We should be warned of who's doing it often. I don't mean go witch-hunting and start throwing insults. The opposite. Ignore said players. Just don't choose to play them if their name pops up in the list.
