Ranked Disconnects

Does anyone know if you still get ranking points if your opponent disconnects after they lose?

Some people on PSN have got some serious butthurt about losing. Grow the fuck up.

 

Also, I've only encountered squirrely voices shit talking on PSN. Can we replace 'headshot' with 'excellent' and follow this wise advice?

Don't I wish. Luckily, everyone I've played was a good sport about my victories... or at least, they never gave any evidence to the contrary.

Not fussed really. I'm not really playing for the rank. If I beat up a guy once, I'll do it again, and he can run away as many times as he wants.

 

i haven't encountered too many people who would disconnect if i was beating them badly. and i definitely ran into people who would bitch into their headset if they were getting crushed. the old standby taunts like "you fucking faggot!" lol

however i'm not sure exactly if you still get the ranking points and the win if they disconnect. at least i didn't notice a difference when returning to the menu.

 

My smiley face went down to the next level because PSN randomly logged me off while I was in the middle of a ranked match. That sucks because I had no control over that disconnect. Bad thing was, I was winning the match too.

I didn't realize that it was me who got disconnected until I kept trying to find a room and kept getting an error message. I went to my PSN XMB and saw that I was signed out.

Luckily, after a few good matches, my smiley face went back to this.

 

That is what to expect when you play just anyone. Playing with those on my list from this community is a better experience, as I find it.

My friend said that someone disconnected against him and HE got the disconnect punish too. Confirmation that this happens?

 

What's the point of DC'ing ranked anyway, it's not like the game penalizes you. You just get less points than the winner. (Unless this changes when you're higher in rank)

 

No, you're correct.

I don't think you can rank down at all, only up. When I got to Hunter, I noticed that losing makes your progress towards the next rank goes down. So to rank up beyond Hunter, you have to win reliably/consistently against other highly ranked players to build your bar all the way.

I see pulling as being the lowest, most scrubby form of cheating in online fighting games. It's so slimy and wack I don't know how these people tell themselves it's ok to cheat and pull on you only when they're going to lose.

They're cheating you and themselves. A VF match isn't over till it's over, any good player can attest to that. A couple of good guesses and you can steal a round/match back even with a sliver of health. Comebacks happen all the time in this game.

 

When this happens to me, I send them a message saying "Train harder, you'll improve one day" or something like that.

 

You can be demoted once you get past Hunter. I demoted someone the other night.

I don't know why you guys don't like disconnecters. When I play, I have my wife sit by the modem. If I'm about to lose, I give the thumbs down sign and she pulls the plug on the router.

Haha j/k... seriously wtf is wrong with people? It is so much more shameful to pull the cable than to lose a fight. That said, I haven't had anyone do it to me in FS.

 

I've only ran into a few dis connectors on PSN and 1 message rager. It's weak for sure but I just laugh at it. Now in sports games it's extremely bothersome, the matches take much longer to finish, so when they quit it's extra f'd.

I'm pretty sure some guy just dc'd on me but after the game was over. Like during the winning pose it frooze for a sec and then said he disconnected.

I guess a valuable skill is to be able to face yourself after a loss and move on. I get pretty mad sometimes but it's mostly on myself for resorting to mindless stuff when I get pressured. I try to take a break, then dojo the stuff I think I lost too and see if I can rematch.

 

hasn't happened to me. i think maybe his connection failed too right around the same time his opponent's did. that's my only guess.

 

I remember the fight, but I did not disconnect on you. I got sent right out to the lobby; it didn't even knock me off Live. Did you you really think I pulled?
