1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Anyone else getting this? You have a specific batch of unread posts, let's say exactly 27 scattered across various boards. You read them all, return to your machine later, fire up IE... and the same 27 are back to "unread" status, plus a few new ones have accumulated.

I can't point to any specific setup that recreates this, but I know it's not due to a reboot, an unexpected IE crash, or clearing temporary internet files / cookies. It just seems to happen all the time with me since the forum upgrade.

Ok, myke asked me if I leave my browser sitting on VFDC all night, and it turns out I do, and it creates multiple VFDC cookies and so my posts come back to life. My question is: Can you or I change an option to fix this? Because the browser sitting idle for hours or the browser crossing the threshold of midnight is absolutely inevitable, and this is a tremendous pain in the ass that didn't exist before.

While I'm in this forum and giving myke hell, can you restore to search so that it defaults to "all forums" and "or"? It's great for the n00bz.

Also mark-all-read doesn't work, possibly for the same reason, or maybe because the forum can be tricky and will get rid of the red (6 unread) indicators, but when you view the section with the six unread posts, they continue to be highlighted and unread.

Heh it happened again just now (it's happened several times since I last bitched). I read 2 or three posts after the browser had been open for several hours. When I revisited the forum to tackle other unread posts, the 2 or 3 I juuuust took care of came back to life. Irritating.
Yesterday it happened just after noon, so I thought that might have something to do with it, but I guess this confirms that it doesn't.
Hit me up with a suggestion myke.
Don't make the suggestion "close the browser" either =) ... doing that automatically makes all posts read.

Sorry for not replying sooner on this topic.

Although you don't want me to say it, but if you don't leave your browser on VFDC all the time then I believe you'll eliminate the problem.

I'm able to configure when persistent cookies will expire, and it's currently set at 1036800 seconds (or 288 days), which I'm sure you'll agree is ample enough. However, I have no idea why your cookie seems to be dying. I remember you having 4 instances of the same virtuafighter.com cookie, and I have no idea how that came about, so there may be other forces at work on your system that I can't control. I'll try looking around the support boards to see if I can find anything helpful.

Thanks for the link you found for me on IRC myke. For the benefit of everyone else: It was due to the fact that my clock was set back a year. Anyone else with this issue, the fix is pretty easy :p

    Sorry, false alarm/lie.

The problem still happens. I'm reading threads for the third time currently. Any further guesses?

Are you getting multiple instances of your cookie again? Apart from that, no idea, sorry.

Hmm.... I had a similar problem sometime back when I was fiddling around with Win XP.... /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Creed, out of curiousity, did you update anything for your O/S or BIOS ? I am aware that sometimes after a BIOS update, due to some incompatibility with data buses, and some changes internally, (Can't remember what exactly... I returned whatever my lecturer taught me after eons of not using them..... /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif) your O/S is not able to handle normal program functions accordingly.

Another possibility was that there was some system update/installation that was abandoned halfway, due to the update/installation dying on you halfway thru, or an incomplete/cancelled install. Got fed up with the whole thing so I tried to reinstall the O/S manually. Didn't really work, since I had more problems, so I did a full system format in the end... /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm not sure if this method would work though. Have you tried to automatically expire your cookies ? If I'm not wrong, IE should have that function. Alternatively, you could try some software which would do that for you, e.g. Zone Alarm, Black Ice Protector, Norton Utilities. This worked for me previously when I had browser problems, so you might wanna give it a try.

I know, I know, I know, it was just a joke about how people disguise things as others when all they are really doing is bumping, the fluffy marmalade pancackes one is just a harmless joke, I rarely ever bum...I mean give a topic pancackes unless I have significant information for it.
