I just activated my premium VF.net account, which lets you save up to three replays apparently, so this is the first match replay I saved. First match of the night, and a ranking match against a Sarah in Osaka's Monte Carlo. Best arcade in the region because they have enough cabinets (4 machines going, one set aside for 10kyu - 7dan) and it's 50 yen to play! They also have good competition here as well.

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yphe13Joioo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yphe13Joioo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

If the above doesn't work, here's the link:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yphe13Joioo

    My match comments:
I HATE playing rank matches so much. Even though I've been playing since the arcade release, I still tense up a little bit compared to if I was playing someone of higher or lower rank. I guess I just hate losing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

1st round: I tried f+P+K+G, P to see how it would work after tech roll and you can see the results. I'll stick to f+P,P from now on since it's much better. As you'll see later on in the match, I love b, d/f+P a lot against a lot of characters. It just works for me I suppose.

2nd round: In hindsight, after I had missed that first catch throw, that should've been my clue to NOT USE IT EVER AGAIN IN THE MATCH. But I kept using it like an idiot. You'll also see that aftr tech rolls I tend to try to attack back almost every time, which is a shitty habit of mine, which I have yet to break. I gotta stop that and actually watch what the other player is doing.

3rd round: I'm totally surprised that PKP actually tracked here... I thought I was going to get owned for that mistake. My habit of attcking after tech rolls fucked me over here hardcore too. and omg is that a throw escape? I'm shocked that he ate all of my FC, f+P+G... and I'm shocked I ate all of his throws too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

4th round: Reno, stop attacking like a homo. And stop using the catch throw. And stop missing throws for that matter. But OMG K,K after tech roll actually worked this time!

5th round: Good thing I backdashed before that b, b+K!

As it says on my Youtube, not one of my best matches, but it was my first replay, so that's why I uploaded it. I'll try to get more vids of my Wolf and Goh up soon.

Just some general comments/advice, if I may be so bold.

I know this is apparent to you, since you made a number of references to it in your own commentary, but I'm gonna say it anyway /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I noticed that after you ukemi, you had a tendency to always attack immediately. This hurt your big lead in the 3rd round (and ultimately cost you that round), and also cost you the 4th round. After a ukemi, or any situation that leaves you heavily disadvantaged, you should try to play a little more cautiously or defensively. I'm not saying you should never attack from disadvantage, just don't do it all the time or as frequently.

At the end of the third round, with you low on health, you guarded Sarah's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Right there you had a chance to end the match, and avoid all that heart ache :), with a guaranteed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif combo! Instead, you opted to throw and it was escaped, and it went to the fifth.

Just regarding some of your comments:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">1st round: I tried f+P+K+G, P to see how it would work after tech roll and you can see the results. I'll stick to f+P,P from now on since it's much better.</div></div>
I wouldn't dismiss the strat of using the stance against a tech roller so easily. You have way more options than a simple /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. You have a choice between linear, half or full circular and a catch throw! In the first round, the Sarah player evaded your stance attack, but had you performed the stance catch throw instead, you would have nabbed him! You may find there's more mileage to be had if you mix up your stance followups against a tech roller.

At the end of the 1st round, after knocking down the Sarah player, you went for the stance /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. I think a good habit to try to develop is to go into stance, then check what your opponent is doing, before you attack. If they don't tech roll, then don't attack, and use the time to prepare for okizeme. By committing to the attack (when it wasn't necessary) you have less time to prepare or defend had Sarah chosen to attack immediately in place.

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">3rd round: I'm totally surprised that PKP actually tracked here...</div></div>
I've mentioned this before in other threads, but I feel it's worth repeating. The "tracking" was more due to your opponent's action and not due to any special properties of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Generally speaking, if you're in the motion of attacking, and your opponent tries anything, your attack with home in on them.

p.s. the only thing I wouldn't recommend you change is your avatar! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

    Just a few more extras...

After your /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is blocked at certain ranges, attacking back with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a good option as if you think your opponent will dash in and throw [Throwing immediately will whiff at certain ranges]. You will launch them and it won't clash as it’s a back turned move. This is one Lion's VF5 strengths.

The new stance catch throw is really good and it has a natural delay for people who like to fuzzy or who like to stand up late. I wouldn’t be discouraged from using it either as it may be useful on another opponent.
Lion’s Okezemi game has always been good and it’s got even better with the new stance.

Do you know if you can turn on the command display for both players?

Nice Lion, I look forward to some more matches..

Myke: Thanks for the tips! I didn't know that Sarah's [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif could be countered with [4][4]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif if blocked, that's good to know! I always thought it was only throw counterable, which is why I went for the throw instead. I guess I'm just used to seeing Jacky's [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif too much, haha.

Jide: Yeah, I always thought that [4][4]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif would be a good follow-up if my [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif was blocked, but I guess I just never tried it. I got some more vids that show me using that same strategy only with [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif instead of the roundhouse. It works really well especially when they tech roll.

You can't have command displays for both players, unfortunately. At least that's what VF.net tells me.

Another match vid, taken from 3/21 in Osaka. Wednesday was a national holiday in Japan, due to spring equinox, so I decided to head down to play games. I had no idea that you could only save one replay per day, per arcade (I saw on VF.net that there were spaces for 20 matches... but I guess it's only one per...) so I overwrote a ton of matches that were much better than this (aka I won!) but this match is still a pretty decent match. Fast-paced with a good ending, although I made a ton of mistakes... but so did the Akira player.

    My comments:

    1st Round:
The [4]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif here was a little too early to catch the rising kick, a mistime on my part. I ended the round with one of my favourite new flowcharts, [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (blocked), backdash, [4][4]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. It worked well in this match for some reason!

    2nd Round:
Tech-rolling and then doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif actually worked here! Woohoo. If I had gone for [hcb]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif instead of [3][3]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif I would've probably won the match, but I've been weaned off Lion's best throws because for some reason people always escape them, so I'm forced to go with his lesser throws.

    3rd Round:
I have no idea why I even bothered going for the last /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif string... don't ask. :p I guess I was just spamming buttons at that point. The ground attack here was supposed to be a [3]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif but for some reason it came out as a ground attack.. I guess I was a little bit too early on the input. Again, [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (blocked), backdash, [4][4]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif works wonders for me here.

4th Round: I CD'd under the single palm into... nothing. ugh. This Akira made a ton of mistakes that I wasn't able to capitalize on... because I made a ton of mistakes too, like that stupid /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif string again. Gotta force myself not to do it, or at least delay it, because it cost me the round here when he ducked.

5th Round: Good god why did I crouch dash into... nothing? That would've won me the match right there. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I shouldn't have done the [6]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif at such close range, now that I think about it. Instead I should've done a sweep or a throw. And after blocking Akira's [3]+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif string I should've gone for the guaranteed throw. I know that I could've thrown it, but why I went for [3]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead, I'll never know.

I'll be playing some games on Friday and Saturday, so hopefully I'll have more vids to show.

Haha. The Akira Player made some pretty bad mistakes, like the air juggle combo he messed up on, and some of the throws.

I saved this match mainly because of the second round. You'll see why. Good match overall, and I played a lot better here. I played some matches today and I sucked horribly (missed my 4th Dan promotion match and my Wolf went down to 2nd Dan /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif ) but I got one good match saved.

    Comments

1st Round: I stole this little thing from Chibita... low P into sweep. I saw him do it so many times that I added it to my flowcharts, and it works well. The f+KG roundhouse was a big mistake, as I should've waited and checked for tech roll, but I was so far ahead in the round that it became a moot point.

2nd Round: Got owned. Hardcore. That Jacky bounce combo off d/f, d/f+PG isn't guaranteed, and in hindsight he shouldn't have showed it to me, and saved it for the next round, because as soon as I saw it I realized I could tech it, or at least try to. Remind me not to do K, K after tech rolling. Someone, please remind me.

3rd Round: I should've done a better combo off of CH FC, f+P instead of what I did. Believe it or not, this match was the first time I've ever seen f+PKG, P+G wall hit, so I was a bit surprised by it, which is why I didn't go for a pounce.

4th Round: b, b+K to start the round. I actually went for the backdash but as soon as I saw him move forward I went for the kick and luckily, I backdashed out enough to avoid it and get the combo. He went for the same pounce combo again but I was able to tech out of it. At the end of the round, I have NO idea why Lion's RAW came out... I was going for a throw but in the end it didn't matter since he low punched me. I guess if I had done a low punch RAW it would've been more stylish.

5th Round: I was damn lucky that b, d/f+P hit when it did, because if you saw earlier in the match, I completely whiffed it and Jacky killed me with d/f, d/f+K. Again, I did d/f+P way too early so it registered as a ground attack instead of his regular attack. P+G to end the match! I should've had this match over in the 4th round though.

Wow, that was an awesome match, 2nd round that was a crazy combo wall combo from Jacky, I saw you managed to get past it in the 4th round.

4th round too he nearly did the wall hit again... but I saw you got out, looks like that all he wanted to do that round. Then he went with the low jabs to finish it.

Oh yeah you keep doing (K) (K) when you get up.
Just reminding you, and good match.

This was on Friday night, after a night of drinking. I had way too much to drink, and after I left to catch the last train, I walked past Shinsaibashi GIGO, and I thought... eh, let's have a couple of matches! I played three against this Brad player, this being the second out of three matches... I think. I forget. I think I gotta load up on alcohol next time, because I was unusually decent on this night!

    Round 1:
After CH 3PP, I was trying to go for 46P+K, P but as you can see I fumbled the buttons. Blame it on the alcohol! Did get the damage back when I made him whiff his low rising kick with b+PKG, P+K. After he caught me with the throw a second time in a row, I decided not to tech roll and see what he was going to do.

    Round 2:
Got rocked here, lol. I don't play a lot of Brad players, so I'm still at a loss with some of his flowcharts. As you can see he's doing a lot of side kicks, which is unusual for any Brad. During the 2nd round I had a feeling he was going easy on me due to the difference in our ranks (which is like... a difference of 10 or 12)

    Round 3:
I showed off f+PKG way too much earlier so this wake up was probably way telegraphed, especially for a top player like himself. I have NO idea how he was able to launch me after that knee though. I totally forget what I was trying to do, but it was probably f+K or something like that. I did get the last laugh with OM K, 46P+K, P, f+K to ring out! I was lucky that it was a side crumple.

    Round 4:
I have to remind myself that even if I hit 3K, I'm still at -1 so I ought to back off or guard the ineviable counterattack. And I was MILLIMETERS away from hitting that b+PKG, P+K for the match. Argh!

    Round 5:
The Brad player caught me with OM moves to start off the round previously, so I got him back with this. I noticed in our first match that whenever I went for 46P+K into the side step punch, he would low punch me, so instead I just did 46P+K, P into throw and it worked here. Those two 44K were really stupid of me, especially the second one. And then... ugh, the jumping knee into ring out. Argh!

But at least he won't forget me. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
