    I made a combo vid for Taka-Arashi, as kind of a thank you for everyone watching my vids. Thanks for the support and comments!     This is a response to Myke's comment on my Youtube, since I can't fit my whole response on there.

    This is Myke's initial response:

    I was going to document this on the Youtube info tab but I didn't have enough room, so here it goes. First off, having Jacky get a guaranteed PP6PK off a blocked launcher is BS imo, because the most Taka can get off Jacky is around 60 - 70pts in a combo off both of his launchers... if Taka misses on any of his launchers against Jacky, he gets... 60pts taken off? What other character gets penalized like that? If it was f+PK I wouldn't complain, but seriously... PP6PK? That's pretty ridiculous IMO. I mean, can you take off 60pts guaranteed if you block Akira's Yoho or Jeffry's knee? To me the punishment on his launchers seems out of wack in comparison to others.

    Anyway, for the elbow thing, I ate the elbow every time because I anticipated a throw after the kick cancel. Simple as that... I should've wised up and stopped ducking but I didn't, but I wasn't complaining about that, it was more than just that, but everything that happened in the match. It was the knockdown, his RAW getting messed up again, etc.

    Anyway, for the knockdown, Jacky can do d+P, d+P, down kick, and it's guaranteed if Taka tries to tech roll in any direction. The only way to get out of it is to do a neutral tech roll with just P+K+G after the first d+P, and the timing is pretty strict as you can see in the video I can barely get out of it, even though I know the timing. You CAN get out of it, but Jacky is pretty much 100% safe if you block the first d+P. I personally don't think this was intended at all to be in the game but only happens because of Taka's falling animation. It's not game breaking, but seriously, when facing Jacky players it's probably the hardest match because almost all of them know to do this to tack on that extra damage that feels unnecessary to me.

    Decent match I guess. I'm having a hard time maintaining balance with Aoi though. I tend to cancel her elbows too much, which you can see got me into trouble often in this match. Need to start mixing it up.

    Nothing really noteworthy in this match other than that crazy 110+ dmg combo on Taka. Who knew Aoi could lay down such a beating on a sumo wrestler?

    Hey Reno, didn't see this until now.

    What's so wrong about that? I've no doubt that some characters can get even more damage after a missed launcher. It just depends on how fast they are to react, no?

    As for Taka getting 60-70pts from a blocked Jacky launcher, that's pretty good no? I'm not exactly sure what the issue is here.

    I don't know the damages/combos in R well enough, so I can't say exactly, but you could easily get around the mid to late 50s in damage with a 14f launcher (both moves you cited are -15f on guard).

    Yeah, it sucks for Taka against Jacky and I won't deny that. But again, as I mentioned in my youtube comment, I didn't see the match you posted as justification for the E rank. There were much bigger, and fundamental, problems that resulted in the loss.

    There's a part of me that silently protests when players blame tiers for their loss, especially in VF. I guess I just couldn't keep it in!

    FWIW, I'm not denying Taka is E rank. I have no real opinion, nor care, for tiers in R, or any version of VF.

    I think you misunderstood Reno.

    I believe Reno intended that Taka can only take off 60-70 if he lands his launcher on Jacky. But if Jacky blocks Taka's launcher he deals 60 to Taka.

    That indeed is really shitty for Taka.

    I think the second part is a misunderstanding. Perhaps my poor choice of words, or whatever. I meant that Taka takes around 60ish damage from Jacky (and others, mind you) if his 33PK launcher is blocked, because that PP6PK, 2P combo is guaranteed, and 70 if the Taka player doesn't know how to tech the 2P BS. To me, if the launcher was elbow counterable, I wouldn't be that annoyed if I ate a Jacky 6PK every time I had my launcher blocked. I do have a problem with the current situation, which seems really out of wack compared to the rest of the heavyweights.

    I don't deny that my loss was because the other player was better and that I missed a lot of opportunities. Anaguma is one of the strongest players in Kansai and I expect him to beat me 100% of the time I play him.

    I will, however, cry about Taka having a lot of natural disadvantages in this game, simply because Sega decided that they need to make him unique due to his size and weight, and that Jacky video highlighted a lot of them. You had the blocked launcher, the 2P problem, and Taka's RAW being useless (again). Sega seemingly thought that because of the weight class, people wouldn't be able to do much damage on him... but guess what? THEY CAN, and they can sometimes do MORE than on regular characters. How else can you explain why Jacky gets PP6PK plus whatever off a blocked launcher, or why Lion gets bloody 50 - 70pts off his elbow?

    Dennis: Only one low punch is guaranteed. The second low punch can be blocked, but only if you neutral tech (P+K+G) and if you have good timing, otherwise you'll eat the second low punch.

    I apologize in advance if what i'm about to say is irrelevant: don't simlar situations already exist in VF5, say after Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif throw, where you have to perform exact recovery and hold guard otherwise you eat the stomp? Although i understand it's another thing blocking the stomp and getting punishment and another thing just to block a low punch...

    No, your question isn't irrelevant, don't worry about it. The difference between that particular Brad throw and this situation is that it only affects Taka, in an attempt to balance him, because he can't be juggled at all. If you hit him with Brad's jumping knee, or say, Jeffry's knee, he reels back and falls down, but he doesn't leave his feet. When he is knocked down, the knockback is much slower (allowing Jacky's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to hit after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) he also tech rolls MUCH slower than other characters too (allowing Lion to combo /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif).

    Even being on the winning side of this match, the final round was still BS to me. There's no concrete information on wall breaks in this game, which is really, really odd. It seems to be point based, so that if you get hit by a wall combo, you can't break down the wall at all. So if you were to get hit by, say, 3 of Pai's wall throws over the course of three rounds, you'll get a ring out, but not if you hit someone 9 times into a wall like Taka can do if he does /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif x N .

    The first round was kind of BS, but I guess that's how the game is right now when it comes to half fences. I think if I was any closer or further away from the half fence, that launcher would have never resulted in a ring out, but because I was, it did. I had that happen to me in a lot of matches recently. I guess it's good luck on my part but I would think it's total BS if I was on the receiving end of it.
