Renting a VF4 machine or machines, how bout it?

I think that one way to get perfect quality arcade would be to just get an arcade machine.

sounds crazy huh? But if anyone read the post on the other board about the guy in Korea who rents an arcade with a group of friends, it doesn't sound so insane.

If a group of people, say in LA or something were to all pitch in and rent a vF machine, no more popping in coins, just constant play. Or if someone were to befriend an arcade owner, for like an all day VF tourney, then the group would all pay one rate, for unlimited machine time.

    Has anyone tried this?

I know people who have tried something better.. they just bought their own machine. That's perfection for ya. Playing on an upright in the comfort of a not-crowded not-noisy air aonditioned house is great.
Food, seats, etc. are always there for you.

For renting a machine... I know someone who rented an evo in austria for a long stretch (maybe eight hours) for something like 50 USD. If you just walk up to the arcade manager and propose it on the spot, he'll probably consider it. Don't sound too desperate to play though /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

How much would you guess they'd charge for an Evo machine? $2000, maybe $3000?

The local distributor quoted me (from memory) 1200 for just the board.

The rest you can shop around for a good price for. You might be able to end up with an evo for under 3,000 bucks. I know it sounds like a ridiculous amount of money, but if you're a massive fan of the game it makes itself up easily. For example, some of the japanese players have over 10,000 games of VF4 on their cards. The best of them still had to pay for over 1000 of those at a buck each game. So that's a buck each game. "So that's only 1000 bucks, buying a cab would be 3000!" you might say. But remember the guy with 9,000 wins caused his various opponents to spend 9,000 bucks trying to beat him /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
So if you have friends, especially several friends this is viable. Ask them to pitch in towards the initial cost.

The Japanese/Asian sitdowns are far more compact and comfortable for extended play. I'm very much considering buying one and moving my FV2 into it when I get home.

    Might I suggest looking at http://www.arcade-infinity.com ?

Before u guys go all excited n jumpy over VF4 arcade at home..

    I thought I'll just point something out~

that vs city cabinet u see in the pic...

    It's an 'outdated' design....

Only reason why I am bringing it up is...the monitor might not support VF4

We have these kind of machines here...n some of them CANNOT support VF4...

    So..better check for compatability. ^___^

Those are original VC cabinets. Sum, they play VF4 no problem here in Toronto /versus/images/icons/smile.gif However, Moby has told me the Vancouver has the *new* VC cabinets and they are supoosedly beautiful. Never seen a pic though.

    cheers,

I read a post a while back (I forget who it was) who talked about playing on a machine in japan that had a chair/stool or something attached to it. Is this the new setup for Evo VC cabinets?

Yah Llanly...I first thought it would be compatible as well.

But we have a few original vs Cabinet that have monitors that are unable to support VF4...

    Strange aye!!!!

Just thought I'll mention it...just in case someone does actually run out n buy it for VF4 without checking for compatability.

It's good to have Evo at our arcades aye llan? ^_______^

really, the only thing you have to ensure is that the monitor supports Mid and Low res. These are the typical resolutions supported by Versus City Monitors. I can't imagine what the monitor is supporting that they can't run VF4 which is standard resolution, only mid res perhaps.

I played on one of these for VF2 - 50 inch flat screen, then in front of the face of the machine is a little platform that goes about two or four inches off the floor... in front of that a featureless rectangular bench made of the same materials as the rest of the cab. Very nice way to play.

I think the same site, www.coinopexpress.com has the new VS City cabinets now. So if you wanna put down the cash for a evo machine, put it into one of the new cabinets for the most accurate experience. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
