Return of the 2D fighters!

Hot (ish) on the heels of the release of HSF2:AE/3rd Strike on Xbox are two more (multi-platform) 2D fighters this month...

Confusing thing about KoF is that the dates on the PS2 release keep changing...I think it's called KoF2000/01 and is supposed to be a similar "mega-mix" of all the old SNK fighters, like HSF2:AE is. Same goes for the Guilty Gear games as their release dates and details are constantly changing it seems, with several shops having different dates for them.

So, anyway, is anyone planning on getting any of these and are they any good? I've heard Isuka is nothing special but I do like the look of Reload.

Any thoughts or comments anyone?

 

GG reload is good, but the game is broken, look at evo2004, how many solbadguys was in the top 10!

I'll be getting the KoF stuff, because I'm a fanboy and I love it. Yes, I even play Iori. These days, I play 2k2 on the DC when I need some KoF goodness. Most recently I've been loading up Garou a little more than 2k2, though.

While I possess GGX2, I have not played it very nuch at all, so I don't think I'll need any of the new versions. Basically, whenever I load up X2, i just practice some Venom ball set-ups because I find the chara very interesting. But I cannot be bothered to invest the time to really learn the game.

Dude, the only reason for that is MIU and Daigo are there every year and believe it or not, the Japanese are still better than the americans in ALOT of things (GGXX is no exception). If Kaqn, Yukinose, Poteto, Sharon, or any of the other BETTER japanese players came over, you would be saying "look at how good Jam, Anji, Zappa, Baiken, etc. is". It's amazing you mentioned GGXX and not KOF which is actually been very broken every year INCLUDING 98. /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

funny as i know of the top 3 heads at GGXX in the uk, and ive seen them play diago in real life,

kof was broken from ikari warriors team 10years ago!

Since you know the top players so well, then you'd think you might know that Sol isn't top tier in #Reload. Maybe just barely, in some RP's, but for the most part, Eddie/Millia/Jam/Slayer are top 4.

Yeah I did try that Guile combo and got a dizzy off it straight away but is it a true combo as I didn't get a "4/5-hit" combo sign come on the side of the screen? And does it matter what SBs you use, eg jab, stong or fierce? Oh, 2 more offtopic fanboy SF questions but how do you do unblockable sonic boom and what was that thing Jericho was showing others in Manchester? The thing where he was using Ken and if your opponent blocked a certain string of attacks, you got in a guaranteed DP that hit low?

I've never even played KoF as I was always into SF back in the day but I do want to get into it now so should be getting it and putting my Hori thru its paces.

I've only ever played GGX with Nakura so I'm looking forward to trying to get into Reload and on Jericho's (and Nakura's) suggestion I'm giving Isuka a miss.

 

the combo does work, its actually a redizzy for guile!

the timing of the low mid punch is the key, did i mention to do it just b4 they recover from the 1st sonic boom?

ohh and if i was you i would get GGXX reload over any kof, GGXX is an evolution of the 2d fighter, besides its better to run kof on emu anyways for free

I think I may be failing with the timing of the crouching strong, I'll give it another whirl tonight (I know for sure if you use WW or CE Guile you can get a dizzy combo after the first 4 hits).

I'm defo getting Reload too, not really gotten into GG games before but I plan to now!

 

I got blasted while I was away, and oh shit, 4 of the top UK players got beat by Daigo in a 2d game??? Funny cause I know quite a few of americas best players and they also lose to Daigo, oh shit, it must be because I'm american and americans suck, right? King of Fighters 2000/01

For any UK heads interested, KoF 2000/01 comes out this friday:

As with GG it's out on PS2 and Xbox (tho it looks like GGx2reload has been delayed/put back to 10th dec now).

I'm planning on trading some stuff in for it (it's only cheap, even if the game turns out to be broken) so I'll post back on what it plays like.

I actually bought KOF2000/2001 back when I bought HSF on Jap import back in February. IMHO The last KOF I enjoyed playing was 98, since then it's had gay infinite's other thing's thrown into the gameplay, and the 'oldskool' ness of it has been almost lost without trace.

Not got my copy of GGX2R yet but I'm liking KoF00, not liking 01 quite as much.

Only had a few hours play on it (my first KoF game too btw) but I like the combo system and strykers, even if you can do some "silly" infinite combos. Playing as Ryo, Terry and Kim, Ade, me you and Das should start playing a little more of it when we meet up sometime (have to start playing again on fridays in the new year).

nah y'all should play KoF98 I think it is. The one with super Rugal as the boss. Thats still my fave one of the bunch.
