Reviving old topics

    What's the best way to go about that? Sometimes I see old topics that I think are really cool and that I'd like to jump in on. Obviously, reviving old threads is looked down upon, and even moreso if it's a one-word, useless response to an ancient thread >.>

    It's normally discussion type threads I'm interested in, as opposed to information threads... I know if there's new info on an old thread, it's alright to update it as normal. But if I wanted to sort of participate in an old thread (because it had a question i found intriguing or whatever), would the best thing be to start a new thread, and perhaps have a link to the old one in it? Or is it ok to just post a new reply to it and mention that I want it revived? Or maybe it's best to not touch them at all?

    I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

    Don't make one-word, useless responses to old threads. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif And make sure the stuff you want to discuss isn't outdated and/or discussed in a newer topic. I'd refrain from replying to "what's your opinion" threads too, if such a thread dies, there's usually a reason to it.

    It's probably better to start a new thread and then reference the old one and state a new take on the old arguments or whatever.

    on topic: Sometimes a thread gets pheonix down'ed for no reason other than to chime in with something ridiculously useless. Thats terrible and is like wereing TNT in a room full of napalmers. I think Srider has the best idea: Create a new thread, Acknoledge the previous thread, and add some useful / new information to the conversation. But dont do this too often, because then it gets annoying.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking, thanks for your input. Sometimes I see threads with questions that could make interesting discussion topics when I consider what going on with and in VF today.

    And I agree with what you said about doing it too much, Vith_Dos. That would really be annoying, so I hope this thread dissuades anyone considering it from doing so...
