Just got this game last night. I played it today and beat the first level. The graphics are amazing. It is a really deep step up from Rtype Delta. A good jump from the ps1 style to the ps2 style graphics. I played and beat the first level and made it to the second level. I didn't have much time since I had to go and make lunch. So far, the game seems to play very fair in which it's challenging but not cheap. The water in this game is amazing. The first level scrolls and scales and rotates around like some of the best shooters. The level 1 boss is this giant alien blob. Very nice explosion graphics and there is a hint of slowdown at one junction of the first level. Which I believe is sort of a mid boss. So far, I have unlocked 1 ship. The first three ships are pretty standard. First one is the standard charge and release cannon. Second one charges and does a release cannon but does a secondary small burst. Third one charges and does a distance explosion in a circular pattern instead of a straight shot. I like the third one as this point. But you get the ability to switch in between levels. The second level is all about water. There are times where there is a dead end and you need to move in and out of the water as well as fight the currents of the water fall all while moving and shooting around the creatures. Good stuff. I haven't got to the second level boss. I spent a good 15 minutes so far. The sound system kicks ass so far. Very moody ambient but transitional electronica type music. You start with five continues and there are five different difficulty settings. There are I believe over 40 ships to unlock? I am not quite sure. I think I read that somewhere. The japanese version all has english text in the menu. So you won't have a problem. I'll post more as I get farther in the game. Cappo is way ahead of me already with him being on level 5. :)

Yeah, I think I didn't save my unlocked ship. I don't know if I activated the auto save function. I'll check tomorrow when I have a chance to try it out.
