For those of you not in the know, there is a new Sailor Moon Live Action TV show airing in Japan. (Available for download via bittorrent here.

Anyways, after watching it, I've come to the conclusion that I am a complete and utter raving Sailor Moon fanboy. I'll admit it, when I was in highschool I watched Sailor Moon on TV, and even though it was the horribly crappy DIC dubbed version, I loved it.

Fast forward to today, having just watched the 6th episode of the live action show, and realizing just how awesome it is.

By awesome I mean completley and utterly awful, but in such a great way its fantastic. The dialogue is awful, the monsters look like rejects from the power rangers, and there's shameless product placement. In one episode the girls had to sing along with a new single in order to time their attacks to defeat an enemy. (Sorry for the spoiler!)

Perhaps the greatest feature of the show is that everyone is HOT. Usagi and the rest of the sailor scouts, Naru, the schoolgirl extras, even Usagi and Naru's moms are hot! Hell, even tuxedo mask is easy on the eyes.

I thought I had grown out of Sailor Moon fanboyism when I went to college, but I guess not. The CG on the show isn't actually that bad, but the dialogue and scripts and so cliche and stupid it makes me wonder "How did this ever get produced?" But then the girl's transformation scene comes on and I think to myself "Ahh that's why, perverted old men don't care about scripts or dialogue or plot." And neither do I. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd just like to respond saying that at first I was skeptical, but now I am sucked in! It's soo bad, yet soo good... The series is begining to pick up with some plot and stuff (seriously)... argh, why does every episode have to be a cliffhanger and then we have to wait another week? grrr

On another thought I seriously wonder who the intended audience for this show is - it obviously isn't 23 year old American geeks like Nam and me.... I mean is it for girls that are too old to watch the animated series, but need to get their Sailor Moon fix elsewhere? Or perhaps it's just meant to usurp the cartoon series... or maybe it is just for 20 year old guys to watch...

    whatever, it works for me

I recently came acroos a fandubbed version, yes fandubbed. It's horrible, even the mildly cute girls can't save the show and/or the fan dubbing. I'd say skip it unless that's the only show with jp girls that you can get your hands on. (If that's what you're watching it for...)

I used too love that show, I didn't miss one episode back when it was on Toonamy, but that was over 3 years ago, then DBZ came and I forgot it even existed anymore.
