found a website I can download Sanchan's reply's from *giggle* I share with you all. It sadly doesn't say the name of the opponent in English so if anyone wants to translate for me that'd be cool. I have more vids on my website of sanchan too. I'll try to post most of them. It's gonna take me a while to get through all the vids.

yup, that's the one. I'm going to move them over to the youtube world cuz it's easier for me to view them on my computer that way. Figure I'd share it with the rest of ya'll.

I'm going to save them on my computer, which is the even easier. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif But you know, those videos were somewhat of a disappointment. San-chan's play style seemed a bit self-conscious, for lack of a better word. It seemed he was too focused on what he was doing and not enough on what his opponent was doing. He knew what to do with an opening when he saw it, but not how to create openings where there were none. The other Eileen that was in one of the videos was better, but still not quite up to what I'd expect from someone who'd masted Eileen to the fullest. By the way Tricky, we need to have some more matches as soon as I get my new 360 controller. I'm hoping to have it by between now and friday.

Yeah I can play vf5 again cuz my wrists are alright, I just have to stop every 15 min to stretch em out. So I'm down. add me if you haven't already.

I agree that I was a little let down, but then I watched them a few more times and realized that the opponents were really good. It may be that they know eileen's tricks and wont' fall for as many of them so it's harder to trick them. I don't particularly know. I too have noticed that sometimes it can be very hard for eileen to break a good defense of someone who knows what she's capable of, but I'm going to hold off on saying it's her weakness yet until I see this as being a problem across the board. From akai's tourney rankings she does fine so it might just be he was having a few bad days.

I think predictability is a pitfall players off all different characters can fall into. From my perspective, I always try to think what my opponent will expect, and then avoid doing it. Well, I'm not always as effective at that as I'd like, but nevetheless. Trying to pull off the most potentially damaging thing you can do at any given time is not a good strategy against someone who know the game well, because that's the first think they'll expect you to do.

In my opinion the best strategy against an offensive opponent is to wait for a clear opening, such as a whiff, or ducking at a bad time, or an interuptable string. And against a defending one, it's to do something that appears to lead to something you know you opponent will try to defend against or counter in a certain way, and then do whatever works against what you expect them to do to counter it. That's yomi at it's finest. But faking out an opponent to get them to do something stupid is an art rather than a science, so maybe it's not something some of the more technical players always focus on. But honestly, no matter how much you know about the game, attacking in a predictable way against an opponent who is effectively defending against you is suicide.

Sanchan is a nice player but being Japanese does not make you a top player by default. People shouldn´t be surprised when they see some flaws in some matches just because the player is Japanese.

Eh? It has nothing to do with being japanese. I always think it's dissapointing to see a video where a player does not live up to their potential, regardless of where they're from. And for the record, I never expect more of Japanese VF players than any other VF players. Actually, personally I think the only reason Japanese players have been better on average than players from elsewhere, is because japan is the only place with a decent offline scene where you can practice regularely against human opponents. I fully expect this monopoly to dissolve as the VF online scene develops.

My personal opinion is that sanchan vids are not very good in general.

I don't really watch them to learn new strats except maybe for some combos or something.
