Sarah VF5FS Ver. A.1 (Console) Combos

    So let's get the ball rolling with figuring out Sarah's best combos. I've started with Eileen and I will work my way to the heavier chars. Please help out however you can. Especially start by helping us find all the combo starters. Oh, and where is Jean weight-wise? And please correct me on any of the abbreviations I'm using. I wasn't sure what you all use here for some of these things. (especially the jump attacks) Also feel free to suggest a better way for me to layout this information. Thanks and let's turn Sarah into a beast!

    I can't read Japanese but luckily we can read the important part (the combo commands) and even just that much will help us find good combos faster than experimenting on our own. Now just to figure which of those combos are for which weight, NH vs CH, Open vs Closed foot, etc.

    lol I used the chrome built in translator. A lot of the names come out like Aoi love covering. I saved the page as a excel .xml file or open office .ods if you dont have a translator

    This was posted by VF2011 in the shout box yesterday. It's been very helpful and it has videos for each combo.
    Google translate does a poor job translating these sites. They think it's using the Aoi kanji as love, so it has the wrong context.

    After I work in the dojo I'll see if I have any combos to add.

    I'm starting to think that it's useless to group the combos by weight class because... for example... even though all the women are classified under the same weight, most of the combos I wrote in the opening post do not actually work against Vanessa or even Sarah. Of course, maybe the weight classes are combo-ed the same but the weights are just different in FS. (that link is info for Vanilla)

    Very nice! Yeah let's work with these and figure what works against who. I'm not sure how this info compares to the link from my last post so let's keep an eye on both.

    I went through and tested all the 1K combos on one person from each weight class. I tested them on a closed stance. If they didn't work I tried on an open stance. I'll list the ones that worked along with the character it was against. I didn't work on Taka because he's really strange as it is.

    EDIT: All of these are off Counter Hits.
    EDIT 2: Bolded the highest damage combos and their damage.


    Heavy Tested on Jeffry

    All of these start with 1K

    KP->P->7k
    KP->P->3KK 87damage
    3PK->FL K->FL 8K
    3PK->FL 6KK
    3PK ->FL 8K
    PPP7K->7K 97damage

    Heavy Middle Tested on Jacky

    All of these start with 1K

    KP6->FS PPK 92damage
    KP->P->3KK
    3PK-> FL K->FL 8K
    3PK->FL 6KK
    3PK->FL 8K
    PPP7K->7K 97damage

    Light Middle Tested on Goh

    All of these start with 1K

    P->4K+G->3P+K->7K 97damage
    KP->P->66K+G
    3PK->FL 6K+G->3KK 96damage
    KP6->FS PPK
    P->4K+G->66K+G
    KP->6K+P3PK
    44P->Back Turned K+G->FL 3PK->FL 6K

    All of the 1K worked except the first one, that might be on me though. And 1K->4K+G->P->4K+G->66K+G wasn't working either on Aoi.


    I'll go through and test on more characters later. That should give a good basis for what will work on what weight classes. From what I've seen in my testing I'd say Jean is Middle Heavy. It feels like there is room for some variation on some of combos.

    Grr... whatever.. Once we have all the best possible combos for each launcher against each char, I guess I'll make a new thread that has the final list. OR maybe I'll ask if I can be a mod for the Sarah Dojo.

    Karn, thanks for testing those out. But something I guess I kinda forgot to stress before... I'm just trying to figure out the HIGHEST DAMAGE combo for each launcher rather than every possible combo. Also, if a bigger combo is possible on say... Counter Hit or in a specific Foot Position... then that should be mentioned too. Also, save us time by mentioning the damage anytime you share a combo.

    Basically, I want to have a "Sarah Combo Encyclopedia" that would be the one-stop shop to quickly find out the best combo possible in any specific situation. (Remember how PS2 VF4Evo had a Combo Search in the Training Mode?)

    TLDR: So when you all are experimenting, only worry about reporting the one highest-damage combo possible off a launcher. (but also include additional combos for the same launcher if a bigger combo is possible on Counter Hit or a specific Foot Position) Notice that this is what I did with the combos in my opening post.

    Oh, and I found out what the deal with the weights in FS is:
    Also, keep in mind that apparently different chars take different damage... When the combo damage differs between chars in the same weight class, report the lower number I guess. Or maybe just report both and we'll figure what to do with the different numbers later.

    I'll just do that for the next characters I test on. For now I just bolded the high damage combos and left the others. Like I said it feels like there is some room for variations.

    If you want to do it that way for the rest of the chars, that's cool too. Seeing all these variations may give someone else ideas that may lead into finding a higher damage combo anyway. So yeah I guess what I should've said is not necessarily to only mention the biggest damage, but rather to just make sure you point out which one is the highest damage. (and save us time by including damage numbers. Just the NH damage is good enough. But if you happen to write the CH damage too during your experiments, share that as well)

    Thanks everyone and keep it up. I haven't had a chance to really hit the lab this weekend, but hopefully tonight and all morning-afternoon tomorrow.


    Me personally, I find the button icons harder to read. Well not necessarily "harder", but just slower because it's not natural to me since I'm so used to the standard text notation. But either way is cool by me because I can read it anyway. When we finalize the opening post, hopefully I can include both ways.

    Ah ok. You made it sound like you were gonna edit Karn's post to include the buttons. I guess you just meant to repost those combos with the buttons instead.

    Yeah, no reason that should be a problem. Go for it.


    Oh and for those wondering about wall combos... I'm not sure what to do with them since they are so situation-dependent. You pretty much have to improvise everytime anyway so it doesn't seem worth trying to figure out and write down every possible wall combo situation. But if you all want to experiment with them, go for it. Me, I'm just focusing on non-wall combos for now.

    I wouldn't mind do both text notation and the buttons. Tell me how to do the buttons and I'll do both. I have a lot of time to do this since my online can be touch and go, like yesterday [​IMG].

    So far all the combos on that website seem to be off a CH. Just some notes off of my testing of the 1K launcher combos. KP, KP6, 3PK and, PPP7K after the launcher seem to work on each weight class, I need more testing on Taka. So that might be a good play to look for NH 1K launcher combos.

    The 1K combos are pretty easy on the timing for the high damage combos.
