This was posted by mao2 over at GameFAQs. I'm reposting this with his permission:

    ----

Here are a list of secrets and infos that I guess most might not know yet. Most of them are taken from the latest issue of Dorimaga and Dengeki Playstation.

OLD VF1 LIFE GAUGE & TIMER
First, have 2 characters purchased the VF1 model from the shop. After that, go into Vs. Mode and have both of them choose the VF1 mode (P + K button). When the match starts, the life gauge and timer will just like what it was in VF1.

    SE-GA-!
During the auto demo (when the movies and the demo matches play), right before the "Presented by SEGA" logo appears, press and hold down CIRCLE button. Those that have played Sega games since the Megadrive/Genesis days will surely recognize this.

    DIFFERENT DURALS
Similar to the previous game, there are different versions of Dural in Arcade mode, depending on the conditions.

    * EERIE GLOWING EYE DURAL - Reach Dural's stage with the first digit from the right of the player's Wins being a "9" (eg. 9, 19, 29, 39... ).

    * STEALTH DURAL - Reach Dural's stage within [2 x (number of rounds) + 2] minutes. In other words, if you have your rounds set to 2, you will get to fight Stealth Dural if you reach her stage within 6 minutes.

    * DIFFERENT DURAL STAGE BGMS - In Arcade mode, either reach Dural's stage in WITHIN 9 minutes total time, or MORE THAN 9 minutes total time.

    MISC INFO
    * Once you have defeated an opponent in Quest mode, there will be a yellow Star on his/her player data shown before a match. In other words, whenever you see an opponent without a Star, that means you have not defeated him/her before. Hunt for these no Star opponents and defeat them, and raise your "Conquest percentage" to 100%!

    * Completing the Trial modes will give you items as well.

TUTORIAL and TACTICS ADVANCE gives you an accesory, depending on your character. For example, for Akira, completing TUTORIAL will give him the "Hyper Wild Hair" and TACTICS ADVANCE gives him the "Yuuki Dojo signboard".

CHALLENGE mode will unlock each player's wallpapers.

MISSION awards all the players with a same item... the "light emitting bracelet".

Well, that's all I know for now. If anyone knows other secrets and info, don't hesitate to add them here. ^^

There are various things to be purchased at the shop. By beating the house tournaments (and maybe by rising in rank?), you get permission to buy them:
So far I have access to:

White genkyuu (sphere; you get this after winning the first arcades tournament. Spheres can only be lost to players who also have spheres, so if you ever lose all yours, you'll need to buy a new one to gather them again.): 2000
Old win pose 1 (hold [P]+[K] during replay): 6000
Old Win pose 2 (hold [P]+[K]+[G] during replay): 6000
New win pose 1 (hold [8_][P]+[G] during replay): 3000
New win pose 2 (hold [6_][P]+[G] during replay): 6000
New win pose 3 (hold [2_][P]+[G] during replay): 6000
New win pose 4 (hold [4_][P]+[G] during replay): 6000
(prices on winposes seem to wary either 6000 or 3000)
VF1 character modelm (arcade and VS only, press [P][K] when selecting your character): 3000
VF1 stage (VS mode only): 10000
    Dural (VS mode only): 20000
Special movies 1-14 (view at event square, second option; shows someone do combos with one hand; there might be more): 1000 each

For those new win poses, you have to use [P]+[G], not P+K

I'm on the verge of finishing quest mode, and I'm hoping I can finally find out what's under the ??????? in the options menu.

In addition to the VF1 stages, you can also use the 4 training stages, and the old VF4 stages in versus (hold start at the stage select, like choosing the other costume). Both have to be unlocked in Quest.

Whoops, sorry about that. If one of the mods could edit that, my max edit time has expired...

    Another little thing:
Completing the tutorial will also net you a whopping 15000G of fight money.
Thanks to Cygnus from the GameFAQs board for pointing that out. I was just wondering where all the money came from all of a sudden /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    'wonderswan version' HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That made me laugh out loud, although when I explained it to my sis she just looked at me funny.

Man I need to have a laugh in these days of 'shock and awe'

HI all, was wandering, does anyone know, in the REPLAY[6]DVD mode, who's the guy playing with Akira using one hand /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif just curious.
    Thx.

I think as far as anyone knows so far is that he is one of the Developers.

I just finished getting the last Black Orb thingy, and it gave me the last 2 "head" items (a cap and the EVIL SARAH hair like Rachel's from Friends.) When I beat an Akira that was like "8000+W and 0L" that had the black orb (in face, all the orbs), I was not able to get it. I think you need to be at a certain level to get it.

I was also able to get 100% on all the arcade locations, but I am not 100% on the team logo collecting (missing 2). These, I'm pretty sure, are from "people" I have yet to come across in one of the events in the Event Arena. Unfortunately, for the remaining Side Missions, I cannot understand what is required. I think I'm missing some Events that pop up in the Event Arena that'll give me the last 2 "people" that have those team icons.

    Something I noticed:

although I had gotten "100%" at the 2nd to last game center, I continued to play to finish some quests, and MORE characters appeared who I had:

    1. seen before but not beaten
    2. never seen before

this only seemed to happen here, and I haven't gotten 100% at the final game center yet, so I'm not sure if it'll happen there as well.

The new characters appearing tended to be very high rank, and I KNOW I hadn't seen them before because they were Napolean, Masked Hijitetsu, and some high ranked Aoi who I'd lost to before (no star). The other 2 guys also had team emblems, further proving I hadn't met them yet.

I wonder what this means for the %?

I've finished all but the last 2 quest orders, gotten 1st in all the tournaments, and now have to just go bumping my %s up to 100 at each game center... although I think that won't unlock the ?????? in options somehow.

The 100% at the gamecenter is in reference to the locals who play there. It's still possible for people from other gamecenters and tournaments to just show up at the arcade. Kinda cool if you ask me.
