so sega cup is over and in the books how was the experience for those that watched the stream and to those of us that attended
1st i'd like to say it was good to see old friends again and to play offline with the people that i used to play online with.
2nd i big wassup to all the players i met for the first time (in no particular order)
blackstar ,hseiken ,dipstick, waverusher kobi, floodnhard, zoerlovespnb, dre fei, la akira (thanks for hosting at your office) ,itazan, fuudo, chofu, plague, miles, fanatic, j wong, floe, cruzlink, r panda, femto, sorias, tempered, godokunodan, myke ,tricky, chief flash, gentlemanthief, dennis0201 i feel like there was more people that i chilled with sorry if i forgot anyone

now for the tourney experience ,damn i had no idea how high the level of this game can be played when theres something major on the line whether it was beating the jpn players running back old rivalries or just a good hard session to level up the matches i played there were some of the best ive played in a long time i now know what i need to work on and i will start playing more seriously from this point on thanks to everyone i played and everyone that blew me up

    now what were your thoughts?!

Pretty dissapointed at my how I played during the tourney and I let it affect me in that I probably didn't get many casuals, feeling I wasn't going to give anyone a good game on that day.

That was the only bad thing, aside from Sega Cup not being all year around.

Rest of it was pretty awesome. Taking in so much info, watching so many people go at it, playing people and their characters that I normally wouldn't get to play, seeing other people just have as much fun with the game if not moreso, meeting different people and being able to put faces to the names I've seen here, it was pretty inspiring!

    What an awesome weekend!

The stream chat was on fire! I was having a blast just watching those matches, and rooting for people I know form online and stuff. We were bible thumping cetrin matchups it was halarious and Shidosha's commentary was gold! I watched the whole damn stream no breaks either. Seeing high level matches like that really whats inspires me. Like "i wanna be as good as that one day". Hopefully I will be at the next one in person.

I thought the event went very well for its first event. It is always awesome to see people that you haven't seen in awhile.

I would like to see it turn into a 2 or 3 day event. Perhaps add a Team Tourney the night before with FT10 grudge matches.

Like its own Evo for VF only.

I also feel it went very well too. even for a poor scrub like me I still felt like it got me involved even after I was knocked off early. These events are more about the casuals and meeting people though the tourny is just the bonus on top of it. Going to Winterbrawl and Sega Cup showed me this easily. Anyone from any level take part in it and learn something even the winners like GT and Fuudo. To have it only last 1 day did bother me though, if I didn't know about the VF party at LA Akira's place I would have been disappointed but they need to make it last longer with more related VF events happening separate from the main tourny.

If you have the chance to go to an event like this do it it don't matter if you are a scrub with no skill you will learn things about your character quickly and level up much faster than you thought was possible as the best players tutor you themselves in tournament matches or casuals. Don't worry about winning the event just enjoy the experience that is all you should be doing in events like this.

I love the event, but there needs to be one on the East Coast.

Maybe it should be tied in with majors like TFC or NCR/SCR in future though, to bring in a few more players. I wouldn't have been able to go this year due to job crisis anyways, but I'd like to see it less than 3000 miles away.

Sega Cup was a blast. I wouldn't have asked for another venue.

It's a shame that there wasn't enough time to create customizations to their characters on the streaming console. It would have made the stream pop just a little more.

I hope Sega Cup returns to California again at the same time next year. I always love coming down to there, and hopefully we bring a few more out-of-country participants along for the ride.

No chance of this happening in Canada, I'm sure. :(

It was a great event, with a large variety of characters being used. Naturally I was rooting for Renzo and R_Panda. Sadly, I fell asleep during the grand finals but I'm watching it now.

I only got to watch on stream from the other side of the planet, but the event looked great. I really enjoyed everything I got to watch, top notch production the whole way and the matches were all great!

Really some top players in the US, and it was awesome to see some high level play and exciting matches. Can't wait for Sega Cup Europe!

I think the stream peaked at around 1.4k viewers. There was alot of VF love in the stream chat, no trolling (apart from the OFK account) and general good manners all around.

Alot of people new to VF were in the chat too, commenting on how this is one of the best tourney's they've ever watched. This tournament and it's accompanying stream definitely did VF and its scene alot of good. We now just need to push and carry over that momentum to the European Sega Cup and keeps things snowballing from there...hopefully until the release of VF6.

There was talk about having a Team Tourney, after the actual tourney, so people wouldn't have to sandbag. That's tricky because after the actual tourney most people are ready just to chill and play casuals, however having people play their best in the tourney and team tourney could make it more exciting.

The problem is, how many people would like to play in a team tourny after the main tourney?

I enjoyed watching it for a while, but can we move it to be either in March or after the second week in May? Hard for students to make it when near finals :)

Damn, I didn't even notice you was there. Chat was mad busy though :)

US one was awesome, that said there were a few tiny things that looked like they could have been handled better (i'll talk about this more when I'm not half asleep). Really glad the US one was a success, hopefully things will just get better from here on out.

I watched the stream from archive and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I hadn't seen this much high-level VF in a western tournament in a long while. Watching the stream gave me a motivation boost. Especially GT's victory over Itazan. That was awesome.
