Shenmue games, anyone play them?

I am sorry if this thread has already been made. But I was just wondering if fellow VF players enjoy playing the Shenmue games? Me personally I love them. They are my favorite games of all time. My two favorite genres, fighting games and RPG's were put together to make the best games I have ever played. That’s just my opinion. Another reason I like the shenmue games so much is because they pay so much attention to detail (especially when it comes to the martial arts part of the game). There are also so many memorable characters. I am just wondering if anyone else on this board also enjoyed playing the Shenmue games as much as I did, and if you are dieing like me for Shemue 3 to come out.

i just want that damn company to finish the damn series,, tho it was excellant, i always had a feeling like the series was going no where really. I mean sure he has to kill lan di and stop him getting the two mirriors and shit, but its really a basic revenge plot. Still, a brilliant game.

hey Myke do you play any other games besides VF? like Shenmue? oh yea is anyone else on this site interested in shenmue?

 

I played Shenmue on the dreamcast through and through. I thought the game is cool, but my friends fell asleep playing it. I was disapointed at the ending though, but I havent played the second game though /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

 

I bought Shenume 2 two days ago for the Xbox but im still watching that crappy 90 minute video. The games pretty good tough, Im still looking for some washy book.

 

Have you ever played the first one? that dvd changes allot of stuff around and makes things look so simple oh and it also cut out allot of stuff. oh and make sure you buy all the martial art moves you can you will need them.

 

They're both incredible games, although I thought the first one was a much better overall experience. The feeling of living in a virtual community with familiar places and getting to really know the inhabitants of a Japanese suburb was just amazing. Organising your day around the clock, fitting games of Hang-on in between searching for clues and training your moves was so compelling. Then there was your job as a fork-lif driver........sheer quality.

The second game was spoiled somewhat by allowing you to skip time and save anywhere. Also the jobs were boring...looking after those lucky hit stands was like watching paint dry. Can't fault the overall story and adventure however. Shenmue 2 really progressed the story and spanned a much bigger geography.

I always get my ass kick in the fights in the game, I keep thinking that is the same as VF and keep pressing the same buttons as Jacky(], + ETC... But the game is pretty good, I still haven't found a dojo that sells scrolls tough, I just get them for free.

Wait so I had to wait in the lucky hit stands!? I wasted 4 hours of my life yesterday thinking that I did something wrong when talking to people, I only got 1 customer and only $25. Still gambling is pretty fun, and the Darts and slot machines aren't that bad either, I haven't found one arcade yet tough.

 

you can buy more moves at wise mans kung fu in the wise mans qtr. there is a couple other places where you can buy more moves and a stand where you can win more moves but that comes way later in the game.

 

I see, so far I hahve only earned mine by placing books outside the Green Hill temple, sparing with some guy, some old woman in the apartments and the one from the Monk.

 

There goes my hope for a proper sequel ¬_¬

Godd and bad news i guess. I want shenmue 3 but this game will due for now. Is there an english version of the game availble?
