i was going through http://www.petitiononline.com/ and lo and behold it is currently the #1 petition on the site. I just started the shenmue franchise and I would seriously would like to know more, the story is waaaay too epic to be contained even in 2 more games. Show your support of shenmue and sign here, http://www.petitiononline.com/shen1986/petition.html , hopefully someone will bring this to segas attention later.

I wish all those people signed my Evo petition. Even though I don't own a box, I signed it because I did enjoy the first one.

I would love to see one of these online petitions actually achieve something. I think in the history of online petitions, no company has ever read one and said, "Oh wow - we should do what this petition says".

Anyways, in terms of Shenmue III -- it was confirmed about 4-5 months after Shenmue II came out. IE - AM2 has the budget to make it, although they've said nothing about what platform it will grace. So this is actually a waste of bandwidth. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually Blizzard games is known for listening to its fans petitions so much, that it provides message boards for the sake of creating petitions to change their games, they also have large scale beta tests too.

In another note, there were several VF:Evo petitions for many purposes:

    -Getting a stateside release (done)
-More things for statside release (done)
    -Progressive scan (failed)
-Fix the memory card issue (failed)
-and several others (most of which failed).

"Shenmue III Rumors Ryo will return back to Japan, and make a short trip back home..." this is a quote from a Shenmue III message board (quite a popular one actually).

I think you will of course get a Shenmue III, but it is a matter of how long.....

Oh well, I still signed it since it's one of my favorite games. I should start a Lan Di and Ryo in VF5 petition or a Shenmue fighting game petition. Or even better : Shenmue vs VF petition /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. I know I know, I'm a dreamer but man that would be the shit !

P.S. Lan Di is da mo'fucking Don.

Did Sega actually ever state that the petitions swayed them one way or the other? The petition was most definitely not considered in the stateside release. Even if they don't sell that many, they'll break even at worst, and hopefully build the base and keep their consumers happy.

As for the added material - my money goes on the fact that athey want to get more people into VF. I can't think of a more lop-sided series by Sega. The sad thing is, they had a nice US-base for the first two.

I might get flamed for this, but Sega (especially SoE) doesn't have the best reputation for listening to their comsumers.

I am? o.o That's news to me... Well, if you have ANY info on who I'm hitched to and when it happened (I must have been asleep or something), PLEASE let me know so I can rectify the situation immediately.

That's my fault. I read it quickly... someone "his associate" entered my brain as "his spouse". Happens... as I don't read much these days.

I remember when three out of five kids who I knew that had a Seg Saturn in America, had at leat one of the VF games. When the Dreamcast came out, NO ONE, bought the damn thing, and all of my friends and me waited for the PS2 and Dolphin(Gamecube now). So we all missed out on VF3, not to mention that not many American gamers would give a rats ass about VF, considering the critics worshipped Soul Calibur, the game got perfect scores nearly everywhere.

And yes, Sega (of America/Europe) is known for NOT LISTENING to consumers, OR CRITICS /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif. This is why VF does bad in America, the sports games sell less and less than projected each year, and well....take a look at the Dreamcast.

I cannot understand sometimes why Sega likes to do the things they do, but you can't really know unless they tell you (which they NEVER do or will). Shenmue III will most likely come to all regions, but it is just like VF, you know it will come to the console platorm, but Sega just doesn't announce it until a couple months before...

PS: No one is gonna flame you for 'dissing' Sega /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Hey man - I've been a Sega fan from the get go. I'm also the first to admit that their marketing is quite awful. The sad truth.

I just wished the fuckers would have released Spikeout on DC. It has pretty much gotten to the point where I don't even believe any Sega game is coming out unless I see it in the stores.

Speaking of Spikeout, anyone (Fishie?) know if the Xbox version is still coming?

    So immature you are /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif.

Why don't you give us all some proof of Sega's actions otherwise. Sometimes Fishie you are the most immature poster on the board (no offense). But I can't take you seriously unless you get some self control and grow up please.

"I will bitch," doesn't really accomplish anything, so either act older or don't reply to me please, thanks.

Should we really go into this? I think most Sega fans would agree that Fishie's got a legitimate bitch here. Nobody is slamming Sega's games. Quite the opposite. They' one of (if not the) most innovative game development company out there. However, their management/marketing hasn't always been sound, to say the least. Off the top of my head, things that have pissed me off were.

1: Lack of sequels on the Dreamcast
    2: Killing the Dreamcast early
3: Doing almost nothing to fix cheating in PSO (all versions)
    4: Bad marketing
5: Even bringing Evo out too early for some fans of VF.

This is all SoJ. The SoA bitch list would be much longer, but I'm not really a consumer of theirs, so I'll leave that to someone else, but I'm sure if someone does make out a list, you'll hear the word Shenmue in there. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
