Should we move to Tekken?

First, I HATE Tekken with a passion, but Tekken 6 for some reason seems interesting to me.

More so that I'm tired of waiting for Vf5R and Im willing to try something new.

    What are your feelings?

Like other games, i'll play it for a bit, then put VF back in. I haven't really played any Tekken since 3, so it will be nice to give it a go.

Maybe i'll be able to get some casuals playing Tekken to give VF a go as well. Should be easier than with SF4.

I'm going to check it out. Maybe it will have better servers than Soul Caliber 4.

So far it's been a good year for fighting games, why not? As much as I suck at BlazBlue I like the game, it serves as a nice alternative to VF. I hated Shoto Fighter 4 and still waiting for a price drop for KOF12 and Tekken 6 is probably a fighter I want to try as well.

As far as I agree with VF>DOA>Tekken, I have other reasons for that.

See, I've played Tekken since Tekken 2, and haven't stopped until recently. I've been watching a lot of Tekken 6 videos, and from what I've seen.... there haven't been that many changes since the lat one (Tekken 5DR).
I mean, what does it take to make Namco do something about those stiff animations and general look of certain moves.
I understand Tekken's system, I don't think of myself as a great player or anything, but I manage to win when I play [IMG]

Anyway, my point is, I don't care about Tekken 6... b/c it's nothing new.

As for moving to Tekken out of lack of vf5r... that's just bollocks. If you want to ditch VF you can think of anything, doesn't need to be Tekken.
Also, one thing about the topic: "Should we move to Tekken?"
"WE" as who? Us, VF players from around the world gathered here on this great site dedicated to VF!?
    HELL NO!
I'D NEVER LEAVE VF FOR TEKKEN! Even if it was VF1 for Tekken6, fuck it! [IMG]

Cheers (please, don't treat it as trolling or ranting, it's just expressing my personal opinion and/or preferences [IMG] )

For me, its the same song-and-dance I always go through. A new fighting game approaches and I say to myself "Hey, that could be a lot of fun! Oh, and perhaps this game is just as deep as VF!! I've heard that its really balanced too!!! And maybe I can even get a few of my friends to play this one with me!!!!! THEN MY LIFE WILL BE PERFECT!"

Then it turns out to be an uppercut-fest. And none of my friends will play with me, because they know how good I am at fighters, so they'd rather play ANYTHING else.

But to be honest, I am excited for Tekken 6. I've heard a lot of good things about the balancing and I think my friends will actually want to play this one with me...

I think this is the Time where i Give Tekken is Due. VF5 is a great game but sometimes to much is a bad thing.

Tekken, overall, is a good series of games (though saying that on VFDC may not go over too well...)

I LOVED Tekken 2 and 3 back in the day. I think 4 sucked and was somewhat broken because they tried to implement walls and didn't do it right. Tekken 5 was pretty good and it had the VF ranking system so that was cool (NAMCO liked VF's ranking system so much they paid SEGA for the rights to use it). I've actually never even played DR as I stopped following the series after 5 on PS2.

I think Tekken 6 looks pretty good and it's very popular in Japan. I think VF5's graphics are pretty superior though and VF's animation is way more realistic.

The tipping point for me will be the online stability and the quality of the netcode. I thought KOF XII had fairly fun gameplay but the online was so bad that the game sucked in the end. The bad netcode literally ruined the game in my eyes. So much so that I pretty much have vicious hate for SNK and Ignition now...

Good online means A LOT to me, that is what I will be playing 95-99% of the time. That will make or break the game for me, if I can't get good games online I will lose interest pretty quickly. I sometimes want to smack people who say things like, "no true Tekken player would even consider playing online." That's just not my opinion.

I don't see how anyone could not like having the option of sitting down at the TV and be playing good games against REAL opponents instead of playing the CPU. Playing the CPU is what sucks compared to online, not the other way around. The game having a good online component doesn't mean you can't play it live, it's just another option to avoid having to play the CPU...

To summarize, I'm willing to bet the game itself is pretty fun and I hear many good things about it, however, if the netcode sucks I'll be REALLY disappointed. I'm really looking forward to learning this game and playing a lot online. If it's not playable, I'll be very sad... SC4 didn't have a great netcode but it was playable, I need Tekken to be the same or better.

I've been looking forward to the 27th for a while. Let's do this!

*Clasps hands and prays that online will be good*

The small fighting game community overall in Holland is always a problem when playing a game at a competitive level.
I've decided to move to Tekken because the number of players playing Tekken is pretty large for Dutch standards.

There are a lot of things that you can learn in Tekken and implement in your VF game, and vice versa too. I'm seeing this as a good chance to continue learning fighting games and hopefully one day implement it in a next version of VF [IMG]

I'm playing T6BR on the PS3. No way I'm buying this on the "White Mans" system, no way. That devil can't fool me no more. BTW, T6BR is a solid title. They just need to get rid of the animals.

In some of your states, you won't even need to play online...
There will be so many sessions/tournaments.

I look at Tekken 6 as another fighting game that gets hyped up by a lot of people that I might get, play for a bit and then get bored of.

That's what stopped me from getting Soul Calibur 4 and is what will probably stop me from getting Tekken 6. I don't feel like paying full price for a game that I don't particularly enjoy playing, and even if I do, chances are I'll get fed up and go back to VF.

Also, I give this thread about a week maximum before it degrades into the age old X vs Y argument.

I've played 500 matches of T6BR easily at CTF in NYC. I also play SFIV, ST, HDR, and 3S. And of course I play VF5 and VF4:EVO.

It's not like if you play T6BR that you can't play other games. I still play Starcraft, Warcraft III, UT, UT2004, and Metal Gear Online (well I retired from MGO but I had 1,000 hours).

You know what takes up more time away from VF than Tekken, at least video games wise, Fallout 3 and Oblivion?

T6BR is going to be a big game on the scene. Knowing at least the basic system and mechanics is a good thing. Nothing bores me more than watching Guilty Gear at EVO because I have no idea what's going on.

the tekken 6 frame data is gonna be out in a couple weeks if neone is interested.

Ill be playing vf more but tekken is gonna be fun. Take it for what its worth, its not deep or nething.. but it is fun. I believe that the network code would be pretty good. I have ps3 tekken dr and that was a test run at making the online better. They have no excuse to have shitty connection, since dr has been out for a long time, and the reason they had it on ps3 was to test out the servers n stuff.

BTW EMPNOvA, u mentioned in ur last post u played warcraft 3. ne chance u played dota or doomsday?
I was ranked one of the best in DOOMsday warcraft 3 customer game. We had alot of international team battles and stuff. MOst of the top players were in europe, taiwan, and us.

VF players get a bad rap thanks to how readily they shit on other games. Tekken is fine and has its own style of gameplay, that's really the truth of the matter no matter how much mud you sling.

Also, there's no reason to "switch" games, they can and have coexisted in the past. Ryan Hart, for ex. -- top Tekken and VF player.

THAT'S WHAT I KEEP SAYING!!!!! LOL!!!

But yeah, I've already bought a PS3 copy of T6. Just have to pick it up on release day after the pre-release tourney at the place I purchased it from. I plan on getting a 360 version as well.

I'll be picking it up, out of curiosity and another fighting game to play

This time I'll be part of the legion of scrubs though as I don't have a clue about Tekken [IMG]

I will be playing this alongside all my other games, no need to muscle out any game, especially VF

Pre-ordered Tekken 6, I will still play VF 5 but not as much as I used to since I need to make room for a living, thriving Tekken 6. Don't get me wrong though, if VF5R was announced I'd give full attention back to VF faster then you can say Jeffry.
