1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

ice-9 wrote::peter's example brilliantly demonstrated what is probably the best way of addressing a problem that is perceived to be of requiring correction. It may seem a little excessive, but keeping in mind that emotions--as peter observed--are rarely accurately portrayed across text.::

Well if everybody understands this, and as Rich alludes to in the "Irony" thread, we are not brainless idiots and we can all problem solve, then what's the problem? We just need to tacitly recognize the peter principle...

The problem is that the architects feel they are being attacked and not given constructive advice, even if the person offering such aforementioned suggestions may feel that he or she is offering the latter and not the former.

To make sure this doesn't happen, it is quite useful to preface such criticism with a word of appreciation for the architects' efforts.

It's the difference between a professor getting corrected by a snot-nosed student and a humble, respectful pupil. Note that I am not exactly claiming this to be the case in this context, but I think the analogy is somewhat valid, at least as perceived by one or more parties.

Ice-9: I don't want to belabor this, but I have a different perspective. I'd put a different twist to your professor analogy. I'd look at the difference between a rigid, hypersensitive professor who objects to students' questioning what he teaches because he has done all the work of getting his PhD and he has the ONE TRUTH and a lesson plan with no time for "diversions," and an empathic, patient, compassionate, flexible professor who tries to guide his students even when they are being presumptious (often a sign of disguised interest and intelligence), is open to changing his views (not just those of his students) because knowledge is more important than having to be the one who is right, and recognizes conflict as a source of creativity. In the end, society gains more from the latter kind of teachers. Hopefully, you get what I'm trying to say.
One point the VP people may have missed: At least people were reading their site.
    And they are appreciated.
BTW, ice-9, would you take down this site if you felt unappreciated? Seems to me you got severely criticized when you first changed the format from a threaded one. Then, instead of closing it all down, you went ahead and created an even better site. Much to your credit I might add. We urgently need more ice-9's if there is to be any chance for a reviving thriving VF community.

Imashroom, thanks for the kind words, but I have to give credit where credit's due.

You guys have got to thank Myke for discovering wwwthreads for us and actually taking the time to install the board. He's the guy behind this board!

KBCAT I got a chance to look at the VP and it helped me out a lot, it is better than getting a stupid strategy guide...I'm new to the sceen and didn't know who worked on it. I hope you reconsider on still working on the VP as it is a very good thing to have around. If people want to pricks and not recognize the work you done screw them they don't know shit, but know that your work has helped others and was very useful.

Thanks M. Wong, the site is now officially under reconstruction. Imashroom and I are going to correct errors in the lists, and I am going to give the site a face lift. Look for a new VP soon.

    cheers,

Sorry for my oversight. Thanks a lot Myke for the tremendously improved site. And thanks as well to anyone else who keeps this site going. The passion and dedication shows.
