Shun's SE, back-throw

    Hmm, I was always under the impression that Shun's SE-->back throw was guaranteed. Can someone clarify?

    However, is Taka an exception to this? It seems like Shun's back throw just totally whiffs on Taka.

    It's never "guaranteed" (unless the opponent whiffs), but on an MC b,b+P it's quite reliable.

    One good trick is to b,b+P -> d+K+E and hope the opponent rises with a high kick. The kick should whiff, opening up for a pretty much guaranteed butt-throw.

    just curious if there's a misunderstanding here.

    I meant Shun's: df+PG-->dodge to back-->PG.

    I know about the b,b+P(MC)-->PG.

    Or did you answer my question about SE-->Dodge-->Back-throw (throwing from behind the opponent) by telling me that THAT's never guaranteed?

    Sorry for neglecting the detail about the dodge earlier.

    Oh sorry I misread your question.

    My post was in regards to the butt throw.

    Shun does in fact have a guaranteed back throw (the one where he drinks) after an SE. SE -> E to the opponent's back -> P+G

    Yep, that was the one I was talking about. The problem is that it seems to work on everyone, but Taka (the throw whiffs on taka as you end up too far away from him after).

    Jeff, thanks for confirming that it's generally guaranteed. Now I'm curious about the Taka thing, and I'll assume he's an exception.

    Does anyone know EXACTLY why Taka is the exception? Or is it just because.

    it's a slightly different throw overall. shun has less advantage time over taka.

    yah. It's just like how other throws become
    Taka Specific.

    My question is...do we know for sure that it
    *is* a guarantee for sure? Don't get me wrong,
    I do this all the time and never miss but the
    CPU--sufficiently advanced--will TT K out of
    it. It seems that someone might be able to
    jam themselves into action.

    Ideas, thoughts?

    On varied terrain, it's probably not guaranteed. On flat ground it should be (with Taka being the exception).
