Side/Back Crumples

I've been searching through the forum lately for an answer to this question but with no luck. If their already is a discussion just point me to it, but so far I haven't found any really great way to capitalize on the new crumples. I know with Pai, a low throw->combo is the best way to take advantage of a back crumple, but what are the best ways other characters can deal with side and back crumples, or are they really not that great for characters without low-back throws?

At least from sidecrumples you should be able to bounce the opponent for an aircombo depending how fast your bouncemove is. From sidecrumples (CH sidekick) Akira can do
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - DLC for light and midweights and 'standard' /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif-DbPm for the heavies for instance. (Some other combos too but they dont do as much damage) I havent really explored other characters yet. Backcrumples propably work the same way, but its more difficult connecting aircombo since opponent floats 'away'.

edit: for Pai, try experimenting with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif bounce and aircombo.

The most consistent way to get side crumples is an OM K while the opponent is attacking, and the most consistent way to get a back crumple is a successful DM, OM K as the opponent is attacking with a string.

For characters like Wolf, Jeffry, and Pai, who have incredibly strong back throws, going for the DM, OM K can be worth the effort. For other characters, going for a side crumple is the better risk-reward choice.

    Good advice in this thread.

I have a question though -- does any one know of a reliable way to setup/create a back crumple in training mode?

There are 2 CPU settings for taking normal hit, one will make the CPU not follow you when you move around. So you can ARM to its back and do anything you want. :p

And for back crumple > low back throw sequence ..
Don't forget about Goh, his low back throw does 65 dmg too

Set Pai to "Guard and counter with mid attack", do a regular Jab on guard and do OM K.

In real life situations, I've had good results with sweep type moves (moves that cause the opp to loose footing slightly but not fall)that have OK recovery followed by OM->Kick towards the opponents back. This seems to work well with / against most characters if the sweep hits on normal hit (on MC, the sweep will most likely knockdown so this doesn't apply...additionally, some sweep moves may knock down on normal hit as well). If the opponent does anything but block the OM->Kick, you get an automatic side or back crumple (followed by combo of choice). Of course, if they do block the OM->Kick, you better be ready with the right defensive option or you might take some punishment yourself. If you are quick to judge your opponents reactions and can notice that they are just blocking during your OM, you can forgo the Kick and throw them instead. Seems like a nice guessing game imo. There are other situations I've found as well but they are more on a char by char / move by move basis.

For those who do not know what type of starting attack I'm referring to when I say "Sweep type moves", a good visual example is Pai's 1K on normal hit. (sorry, not sure what that reaction is commonly referred to but most chars have at least one move that causes that particular reaction)

So how can characters like Aoi, Kage, Sarah, etc...take advantage of a back crumple? are PPPK strings their best options?

I only know side crumple for Sarah which is:

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    If I recall correctly.

For backcrumple I'd imagine you can bounce them from that as well though I've never been able to get a back crumple before. I guess a safe finish would be like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or as you said a PPPK string of some sort.

Awesome! I've been looking for a way forever. Sad to confirm though that Kage can get more damage from a side crumple than a back crumple.

Why is that sad to confirm? I would think that would be in Kage's favor since a side crumple seems more likely than a back crumple.

Sad to confirm though, that Kage is still one of the top characters even if he can't get as much damage from a back crumple as his side crumple.

I forgot crumple -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from my earlier post which does most damage out of these combos, it is stance and characterspecific though I think. With a sidecrumple you have lot of time before you need to apply the slamdown, so dash closer at your leisure.

ps. I think OM+K is bit too unsafe whereas sidekick is fuzzyable (at least Akiras is). I agree that OM+K is the most no-brainer way of going after sidecrumples.

edit: actually you get slightly different combos from CH sidekick sidecrumple and CH OM+K..

Uhm...because it gives me no incentive to go for a back crumple, which is boring?

Yah Srider sad to confirm that Eileen is right up there with Kage.
