Singapore roll call!

Hey Singapore VFers, I just wanted to get an overview of players in Singapore still actively playing (of a decent level) and who they're playing in Evo.

Actually there were a pair of players yesterday at Yishun whom I didn't recognize; one of them kept playing Brad.

I still play but I REALLY REALLY sucks... dunno if it is the
lack of practice or I am getting old. I cannot even touch
Danny's Akira.... I am thinking of giving up Vanessa... Kurita
looks really weak in the Greenbook DVD

and maybe pick up Lion or something...

U cant touch me is because i played with all the strong Vanessas in Japan! Wait till u go Japan and play and come back and kick my ass.

 

Kyasao and Retired Kage are also quite old i think.

I haven't tried vanessa cos i don't hvae the book. its waste of marnee to try moves at yishun. confirm die like shit fast /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

i don't know if i still can play vf this week or not. my idiot friend squash my finger using the car door yesterday(sat). My 3rd finger is kinda swollen and there is a bit of blood on it. sianzzz yesterday should have cheong arcade /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

The other day there were a couple of people who I never played with before who were pretty good...realized that there were probably a lot of players outside of our circle who played. Giving them the opportunity to speak up here lor.

Also, kind of curious about the character representation here in Singapore.

I'm probably going to play today for the afternoon...hopefully see some people down there.

I think I am getting old. Sometimes the heart+brain is willing
but the fingers are weak... There are things I would like
to do but in the heat of the battle always forgets...
like err throw breaks....

I think Shundi keeps telling me to break throw but always
forgets... simple things like that also never do sure cannot
win people like you guys... everyday break throw, CD here
and there...

But on the bright side there are still some people I can beat

Maybe I should pick up BRAD /versus/images/icons/smile.gif he got no CD moves???

Yishun very EX... everytime go down spend like 30 bucks...
including the stupid parking cost me like 6 bucks!!!

maybe we're devolving back into the "play for entertainment" group man.... getting old too.... nowadays its more of the socialising with old friends and everything that interests me more than the game.... Oh no... /versus/images/icons/frown.gif
Tried my hand at Evo.... Too fast for me to handle... Not to mention too new. /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

How come you don't park in the arcade building itself ? Its like what ? $2 per entry ? Oh, went thru the DVD... My sister was like, "Wah! Yandao!, Wah !! Chio Bu!!"..... /versus/images/icons/confused.gif Women.....

 

I don't know what it is, but Evo actually seems SLOWER to me for some reason. Like I can see punches and LPs more clearly. (My theory is the high rez monitor = sharper visuals = better animation = better reflexes).

Definitely don't park in Northpoint--Yishun 10 parking is cheaper and usually more vacant, though a bit ghetto looking. Sunday is apparently some parking special day...only $3 for the entire day! That's pretty good.

 

Finally got the chance to play the CPU today (only David came later on in the afternoon), and tried out a few characters I haven't played with yet in Evo.

Pai: It feels sooo good to get in a sequence of throws, low throws, and swallow kicks. She feels very good to me and much more fun to play with than she was before.

Sarah: WOW she's good. Strong pressure ability, many new and useful ways to get into Flamingo, and powered up throws.

Aoi: At first she felt a little slow to me, but after a while I was able to get into the flow with her again. The differentiation between and + makes sense. Is it just me or does her hit throw seem harder to pull off?

Shun: Dayum this old man's throwing game got a serious upgrade. His 270b throw is easy to do and can be done on reflex. Add to that his +, his now-best-dodge-attack-in-the-game, and his myriad of actually useful new attacks, and no one can say this old man is weak.

Brad: Alan, if you think you have slow reflexes, I don't think Brad is for you. Brad is exactly what Steve Fox should have been, and let's congratulate AM2 for copying a good idea and executing it correctly. Brad is MT Vanessa on steroids, coupled with Lei Fei like quick transitions of stances. Anyone who have seen Mask De Hijetetsu knows how blindingly quick and smooth Brad can be played.

Goh: I thought this character would be hard to play, so imagine my surprise when I found myself doing really well with him. His attacks are underrated, with a sabaki for nearly every situation, and his throwing game is quite good.

Actually after playing so many fast characters going back to Wolf and Kage was quite painful. Hmm maybe I should just focus on 2 or 3 characters and keep it at that...

 

didn't know wat ur afternoon meant(tried phoning u no answer). wanted to go one. but no one seems to be going.

Goh is damn freaking easy to get interrupted alot of his moves is slow. eg. akira is like 100% faster than him imo... and sarah is 150% faster. And it's alot easier to use vanessa, lion,etc's sabaki. cos it's like 1 sabaki for alot of things. not like goh's 1 sabaki for 1 move thingy.

Sarah's new throw is like... ermm. ends with f+p+g? and the 2nd highest damage throw is b,f+p+g? b+p+g kinda sux now. the damage is almost the same as p+g. So i don't think she got new power up throws.

 

Yah lor, must play Goh more like Jeffry (but smarter) than like Akira or Sarah. His sabakis are so good! is by itself a pretty good long range move, even better cause you know yours will beat the opponent's sidekick. Don't bother using it up close because you know opponent will probably try elbow right? + is not bad since you get tsukami after, and is great against Jacky/Lau types. + works very well against knee/throw nitaku, and you get kuzure down on hit. The only one I don't think is worth the risk is his +, and that's not even really a sabaki. Didn't try + much.

Sarah...her throwing game isn't fantastic, but at least better than before. Small down attack is guaranteed after +--more reliable to get than Version C. + is actually a better throw than + because of the guaranteed stomp after, but now in Evo her 270f throw is definitely her best one. So, not bad, she's still a great striking character and with an improved throwing game. No need to be so greedy lah, your Sarah is good enough already.

I had my phone on, but for some reason no calls came through to the arcade. Sooo many KOF players there anyway, sheesh can't these people play something new...

Everyone plays lesser nowadays. Everyone is busy with their own stuffs. Its sad cos Evo is still quite new considering its late release into Singapore.
Plus: Yishun is far for some and quite expensive (2 rounds)

I'm a newbie here and was at Yishun on fri night. All i could do was watch (sadly) u guys play.

Dont worry about being a newbie. Who isnt a newbie in the begining? Play with us then you will improves faster.

Plus: I think I saw the unknown Shundi player hanging around Singapore Management University. Will keep a look out.
