I found this from a link on some website:

    http://am.sega.jp/utop/news/vfevo_ote3/y03.html

Basically, this is a report from the regional qualifier from the Shikoku area of Japan for the upcoming "Skill Look" tourney. The page shows notable players etc, the brackets, probably have some media up soon. Also, looks like Kyasao and Heruru went as special guests for the qualifier.

Anyway, what's interesting is that an Akira player I met last time I was there (this is basically considered "countryside" Japan) won the Qualifier, and some others I met there also played. If you were on IRC last time I was in/came back from Japan, you probably remember me raving about a guy named Todoroki Akira. This is the best Akira I've ever met, even more impressive to me than Ohsu (in my opinion, based largely on personal preference, style etc). He fought at KakutouShinSeki2, but got eliminated right off the bat by ChouFu KK Sarah (Lau). Incredible player, I couldn't beat him once, not even close (Myke, this is who I learned backwards Biako from /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif). His picture is at the bottom of the page, and there's also a special page about him at:

    http://am.sega.jp/utop/news/vfevo_ote3/r0301.html

he's the middle picture, bottom row (of the first page, between the little kid and Heruru photos). Now, that little kid is what makes this really interesting. His name is Ryu, and he placed 2nd!!!! He's a Lau player. This is no small feat, as 64 people played in this tourney, and Ryu beat another guy I played with, Hotaru Cameron (who I also could NOT beat, in about 50 games).

Anyway, thought I'd shed a little light on some people (and one kid) who are incredibly strong, but probably don't get much attention, mainly because they don't live in Tokyo.
