It’s not even funny. Why do people go through the trouble of setting up the game to mash one button for all eternity and just leave it to play by itself? I seriously don’t understand the point.

Sure, I’ll take the win and the rank points every time and also the rematch, yes thank you.
But it still irks me to see such behaviour.

Button bashers and people who use only 1 or 2 moves the entire fight are also a nuisance, but they are more ”understandable” in their actions.

But the bots… Why waste your - and everybody else’s - time like that?

is this an issue in fighting games in general, or just a vf thing?

I'm coming back after a pretty big hiatus from fighting games, To me people plug pulling, lag switching and other underhanded boosting tactics are nothing new....But this bots mashing punch thing is brand new to me and blows my mind.

I guess there are alot of trophy addicts who got the game for free and have no interest in playing it. I ran into a few of these weirdos in the first week of play, Surprised to see them still around.

I doubt you see this in any other fighter unless it's free on playstation plus. Most fighters don't have a trophy you can get for getting hundreds of losses in a row.

That’s probably true - I keep forgetting the game was free to download. I paid for the dlc so it didnt feel free for me lol

Besides, the whole thing with these trophies is silly to me. Do people really feel the need to be rewarded for playing a game in the first place? Some games i play for the first time, i manage to complete a very basic tutorial or something, and I get a trophy for doing it. It’s ridiculous. I don’t play games to get rewards - playing and learning and doing better is the reward itself.

This is the reason you shouldn’t let marketing people influence you too much -they come up with so much bs that hasn’t got anything to do with gaming and force feed that stuff on every single game.

I like trophies. I generally play single player arcade genres like shmups and 2D action games. Those games have trophies linked to skill like beating a game with no deaths or on the highest difficulty setting, and I enjoy the challenge. I play those games with the intention of getting good and the trophies give me something to shoot for. In fact, all my games are at 100% except one, not counting VF5US. VF doesn't have those skill based challenges but the trophies did encourage me to pick up a secondary character so I could play the 300 ranked matches without completely embarrassing myself. I'm not very good with my secondary, but it is certainly a challenge. I would have never put in that effort if I didn't want to get VF5US to 100% like the rest of my games. Though I definitely don't understand why somebody would want to just bot their way to platinum. Getting trophies for the sake of getting trophies is not why I go after them.

    Thanks for answering!
That’s cool. To each their own, I guess :)

The bots make no sense tho, just like you said.
