Played some Super Hang-On and VF5:FS the other day in the new Yakuza game. Both games are as awesome as ever. Haven't found or looked for the VF2 and VF2.1 machines though. The VF games are selectable through the menu without going into the game itself like all the other Yakuza/Judgment games. The descriptions were nice too.

Other than that the new Yakuza is as fantastic as ever and I'm digging the turn-based gameplay

Putting time into Space Harrier and OutRun via Yakuza 0. I started a legend run after finishing the awesome Yakuza 7/Like A Dragon, so I'm giving Y0 a replay now that I've played the entire mainline games. It's giving me a new perspective on it which is, that it's just as awesome, just even more knowing the events of Y1-5.

What does that have to do with the oldschool cuts in Y0 and why I'm playing them there? Because there's two sub-stories for each game that involve you trying to outdo the top scores for the women that work at the arcade? What does that unlock? Softcore porn vids of those girls who real life models, lol.

So the end credits are going for Burning Rangers and this game is fucking amazing and I'm actually regretting not buying this when I had the chance. Like BIGLY.

Sonic Team solved the early, and arguably present, 3D space navigating through short auto jumps on short platforms before Zelda OOT did, as well as the lock-on in 3D space that against enemies. Unless you don't line up your jumps whatsoever or just blind there's not really execuse to missing jumps, yet they aren't anywhere near brain dead where it auto platforms for you. I'll be giving this more playtime for sure, and I imagine I'll be zipping through the stages in no time flat because 1) I'm awesome and 2) Sonic Team figured out 3D platforming, on a 2D pad no less.

The lock-on happens ala Panzer Dragoon, just with out the reticle, but you can see if you're locked on by looking at your character is pointing and following. There was some early 3D jank, but I'm chalking that up to the Saturn having to do 3D as much as it did here. I can see the complaints about the camera but even that was more manageable more often than not. Again, on a 2D pad.

Presentation was top notch and I was only familiar with the music through the Samba De Amigo DLC back on the Dreamcast. It's also another win in the 90's anime aesthetic > current animu-bs. The emails you get in the form of thank you letters from the people you save throughout the game was a nice touch.

In the Yakuza surveys, I'm always bringing this game up as something I'd want to see released, but now I'm ready to spam Sega's official channels for this outside of those surveys.

wondering how Sega didn't turn this into a run-n-gun platformer franchise. Seriously fuck Sega's management around that time. :man_facepalming:

Posting these here from another forum I spent waaaaaaay too much time on, bolded....

Finished the PD remake before finsihing PD original at my current age, lol. Readability really helped with it, and the framerate was a plus. The bass when the explosions hit after a lock-on blast oh yeah. I’m chalking this one up in the DMC V and Judgment category of ‘gamey ass game with a new coat of paint’ category. I still like the original and can see why people would prefer that version, if they were to compare, but the game works with the old and new style either way. Unless you are just dead set in your ways and won’t accept a substitution other than the Saturn version, this is awesome and I’m glad it came to be

Episode 4, for example, works on both fronts. The dingy setting, in part to the hardware limitations that help the atmosphere, are my favorite part of the game. The new tech helps with that but gives it a futuristic, almost clean vibe that can be appreciated but still makes it fast paced and dangerous.

Then I moved on to Panzer Dragoon Zwei:

PD Zwei is done. Dragoon Rank: Gladiator. Game was awesome, and I’m hoping the remake comes out the gate swinging and doesn’t need the patches the first one needed at the start. I’m guessing it’s a still a ways off, especially with Covid, but I’m excited nonetheless. I’ll be going for rank another time.

PD Saga is next and I’m expecting good things, but I love how the rail shooters were backed up with a presentation they have. Total package

With Burning Rangers done, and Panzer Dragoon Saga next my 'Gaming Bucket List' is complete! Pretty cool honestly since I never thought I would play these and wrote of the idea that I would about 13 years ago. I was still hoping for re-release but it wasn't something that kept my up at night. Now that I'm doing it, I'm pretty excited and satiated.

I'll still be peeping on projects from Sega, PlatinumGames and Inti Creates, but it's been a wild ride that I never realized I was on until now.

Continuing my tear through games....celebrating Christmas by playing Panzer Dragoon Saga...finally, after 22 years. Game is cool so far.

Battle system is interesting in that you can move about during the battles and there's a radar where you want to be in the green which not only fills your attack gauge, but depending on the position you can keep up the offense, before the enemy gets to attack. Red on the radar is where you'll get hit the hardest.

The dragon flying is fun, and the first are a you go through you already has short cuts through tunnels (it's an excavation site) in order to traverse the map without having to deal with battles. Using the gun and lock-on to break statues, open chests, and enter building is a nice QoL touch as well as sticking to the series lock-on gameplay, which is a nice touch.

Atmosphere and music are of course on point, being the previous two games have those in spades. There's already some nice world building where I'm recalling my playthrough of PD1 and 2 and thinking "Oh, I never noticed that" . I'll guess that there are going to be world building drops like that, which is going to make replays of PD1 and 2 that much cooler.

Just beat Sonic and Knuckles(S3&K?) a little bit ago. This is another case much like Shinobi PS2 (played them within a couple years of each other too) where I come back to it and it’s pretty gdlk. Sonic 3 does have a ‘ehh’ opening and the casino stage is a bag of dicks with matching music, making it a troll level on purpose, but I digress. After that it doesn’t let up. Especially the boss music…so good!

I forgot in S&K you start over from the beginning after you die and the last two stages can be tough. I looked it up GFaqs and you needed to have the Sonic 2 cart in there to do level select. I had save states. Death Egg probably would’ve broke me if I played this game as a kid, haha!

Beat Sonic CD yester day as that was one I only got to play every once in a while when I visited my cousins as a kid. Game is awesome and I’ll be going back to that to check out the Past and Future stages. Once I’m on Sonic kick there’s nothing like it. I need to go back and finish Super Mario World, since I’m on the last world, but the last time I played it was right after Sonic Mania, and even compared to the first Sonic, the game is pretty flat from a presentation stand point, and the platforming was a little too basic.

Got a PSN card for $50 for Christmas. Finally grabbed Battle Garegga Rev.2016. I was hoping for a Switch port but with the M2 Shot Trigger line not coming as fast as I would've liked, and COVID wrecking everything, it's going to be a long while if ever. Decided to jump in and the game is awesome. Did a few runs before going to the settings, and putting colors on the bullets. I can see why people would be pissed about the original, discenring between ship debris and bullets was as tough as I heard.

I got better with each run, but decided to use the settings and highlight the bullets. Game is still tough, but at least I know when I'm getting hit.

I don't like spending anything more than $10 on digital only titles, but I've had my eye on this for awhile and it did not disappoint.

Currently playing through Edward's quest on Princess Crown and doing a bit of Winning Post and Iron Storm. My brothers came over a few days ago and we did some X-Men vs SF, Saturn Bomberman and Vatlva. Fun times indeed. The Saturn will always be my number 1 console of choice.

Test Drive Le mans and V Rally 2 Expert Edition racing fun this past few days.

From Old years to early New Years morning, I played Test Drive Le Mans, KOF Dream Match, Soul Calibur, Last Blade 2 Heart of a Samurai, and SF Alpha 3 Saikyo Dojo. Oy!

And "All records, are made to be broken." CvS2 and CvS1.

Strangely enough, I have alot of fun using the 70's looking car, in V Rally 2 Expert Edition. And last night, was full Zangief and Raiden onslaught against the cpu. I kicked Shin Akuma's tail with Zangief. It was a close match, and it was just down to Zangief to save the day. And I won by doing an air knee on Shin Akuma. If he did a Sho Ryu Ken, that would have been it for Zangief. But luckily my knee hit and I won.

I've been playing SF Alpha 2 for the past week. And as a SF2 fan I will admit, Alpha 2 is way better than SF Alpha 3. Holy crap, this game is fun.:D

Guilty Gear X for the past few days with Millia and Baiken. My only complaint is the cpu Dizzy. She is ridiculously cheap.

I think I might play some old school Killer Instinct, SF Alpha 2 and probably some puzzle games later today.
