Alrighty then. A recent browse around the Japanese websites yielded a recent Pai Evo movelist. I have no idea if the information is accurate - but it's probable and it's news on Evo Pai nonetheless. Yay. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

1. Changes to existing moves:

[P][P][P][K] and [P][P][P][2]+[K] - Apparently the animations for the crescent and the sweep have been altered. Interesting. My impression of all these animation changes is that Sega is keen on making the characters' moves unique. I'm cool with that.

[4]+[P] - From what I translated, Pai's Lunging Poke has been revamped to the point where it's almost a completely new move. Whether or not it still crumples on MC wasn't mentioned. I would imagine so, but who knows. Actually, I hope so since I find that this move is quite useful and leads to some very damaging followups.

[K][K] - There's mention of some changes to her high kicks. Now, it could be that there's a change to how much you can delay them? Not sure, but it doesn't look as though there's an animation change.

[K]+[G] - Here's something of note. It appears as though Pai's crescent now leaves her with her back turned. Very cool. I guess there could be use for this move afterall!

[4]+[K]+[G] - Now, I'm not quite sure what the changes are here. The direct quote from our crappy online translator is: "In upper tier decision modification". Anyone take a stab at this?

[6][6]+[K]+[G] - Ooh. Like her standing crescent, this leaves her with her back exposed as well.

[2]+[K]+[G] - There's been some modifications to the animation of her sweep. Likely the same that we'll see from PPPd+K.

[1]+[K]+[G] - Nothing huge, but a nice change. Pai now makes a 'hah!' noise during the execution of the move.

[4]+[P]+[K]+[G], [P][P] - Nothing detailed but there's some modifications made to her sawy step windmill punches.

[P]+[G] - The animation for her neutral throw has been revamped and is considered to be almost a whole new throw. Personally, I've never liked her P+G throw very from an aesthetics point of view, but it does allow for some great body crossing so lets hope that's still there.

[6],[4]+[P]+[G] - There must be some major changes made to Pai's DDT. From what I gather, it staggers the opponent now and it's said that double swallow kicks are a good followup. Interesting, I'm keen to see this in a clip.

[4],[6]+[P]+[G] - Again, more animation changes to have people saying that this throw has been changed significantly.

270+[P]+[G] - There may be a lowering in the damage of this throw. Currently, it's at 68 points. I don't see a problem with this at all, so I'm kinda surprised that it's damage would be reduced - especially since it was increased from Ver.B to Ver.C.

TT [K] - Well, it's not a TT attack anymore. I think this is seen in the Evo clip that floated around a while back. To be honest, I remember it looking very much like Ling's BK,4. It looked as though it hit on the bounce too. Cool, not like the TT K had any real use in Ver.C anyway. :p

2. New Moves:

[2_],[4]+P - No info except that it's a mid level attack.

[3]+[P],[4] - This is Pai's ordinary low blue fist, however tapping back now lets her goes directly into Circular Evade. Very cool.

[K][P],[4] - Same deal as above just a different lead-in. This also applies to her TT low blue fist (d+P).

[2]+[K] - A new low attack. Her old low kick (and chained heelkick and sweep) are now executed from crouching (hold down), or they can be done using [1].

[2]+[K],[4] - From the new low attack, tapping back will leave Pai with her back turned. This is great! More blind fighting tactics - still a shame however that movement is no longer what it used to be with one's back turned.

[2_],[4]+[K] - A new mid level attack.

[3]+[K],[P] - Some new high attack canned after her sidekick! Likely an ordinary punch not unlike Lau's? Maybe it's a palm? Who knows.

[P]+[K] - A new mid level attack. I'm hoping that this is actually a standing version of her P+K out of Circular Evade. Fingers crossed.

WS,[P]+[K] - Another mid level attack. Cool that she's got another move to come out while standing too. Apparently this one leaves her with her back turned as well!

Back Turned, [P]+[K]+[G] - Just a new way of entering her Sway Step.

[6],[2]+[P]+[G] - A new throw. Maybe it's the old DDT?

[4],[6]+[P]+[K]+[G] - The first of, not one but two (!), new low throws. All I can say is that's about freakin' time.

[2]+[P]+[K]+[G] - The second of, not one but two (!), new low throws. All I can say is that's about freakin' time. Didn't I just say that? :p

Back turned, [P]+[K] - This is the little elbow poke thing we all saw on the Evo vid. It's a mid level attack that keeps Pai with her back turned. Very Ling like I must say, but I like it.

Now there was no mention of the inverted kickflip-like move that people were mentioning before. My guess is that it's her ff+K+G changes that people were seeing. I believe it's in the Evo clip.

Well, there ya go. A little something for Pai fans to look forward to. Myself included.

cheers,

I was looking at the movelist you mentioned last night (in a desparate attempt to find Lion's EVO movelist somewhere), and I read over some of the comments. Regarding her [K][K], I believe the comment states that you can now tech it -- which IMO is a wonderful thing. Now you'll have to work a wee bit harder for your wins against my Lion in EVO. I might actually stand a chance of beating you now :p

cheers,

Well at least it's there. Aoi's [K][K] is long gone!

In upper tier decision modification

upper tier = high, like high attack
decision generally means counterable. Like "a punch is decided" = P counterable,
modification is prolly literal.

So a change in the way this move can be countered if blocked??
Like high attacks whiff or don't whiff? Or maybe it's no longer a high attack (yeah right, that'd be too good) ... maybe something relating the way this move has a pretty distinct pushback effect if blocked.

Man, Pai's low throws are going to go a long way to making her more competitive. Jeez, with low throws, reversals, a wider variety of moves, and (hopefully) better combo-ability, Pai might be a force to be reckoned with in Evo.

She'll be fun to play ^_^
I used to play her a lot in VF3, now less in VF4, but her EVO version seems really interesting!

I no longer have a reason to play Tekken. Awesome. Pai just needs a bit more spunk (and a panda).

I think it simply means that it is high now and no longer special high? The Evo. move list for Pai is avaliable at : http://homepage3.nifty.com/pai/evo_movelist.html

It is not finalize yet.

If you noticed, many of her new moves make her turn away from the enemy, I believe it is an attempt to make her erm, that [4]+[P]+[K]+[G] stance used more often. Pai can now do that with her back facing the opponent using [P]+[K]+[G].

[6][4][P]+[G] can be followed up with [9][K][K], it is confirmed according to the move list.

[6][2][P]+[G] forces the opponent to crouch. Makes a nasty guessing game.

Heh. Aeon, there are many positive factors that make Pai *already* a force to be reckoned with in Ver.C. Explore and you shall find. She's a character that takes work - something many players are a) afraid of and b) oblivious to.

cheers,

I agree -- she's already vicious if you know how to use her, and quite a simple character to get used to, if you play any of the other light-weights. I've used her a handful of times, and am able to take out some pretty tough competition with her.

You're both right, of course. I just recently started playing Pai seriously and she can be pretty deadly as long as i am precise. Her throwing ability is fairly decent (in the sense that her throws do nice damage), and her speed can make up for most of my mistakes against lower-level opponents.

I guess the reason some folks don't feel like she's all that competitive now is because she lacks that high-damage staple combo that lots of characters have. I thought at first that i could only be effective in dealing damage with Pai when i can set up float or OTB combos.

Now i love sidekick stagger madness and conditioning for reversals. Pai is such the queen of stagger! /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif Well... maybe i'm overstating the case a bit...

BTW, cheers to ice on the Pai dojo.

No, you hit the nail on the head. I just lost like 3 matches in a row to a Pai Scrub on my lunch break. He just stood there, and waited for me, then did [K][K] pounce, or threw me. I guess I'm too used to playing good people.

Well her [K][K] is really effective.
I'll have to play her more often now that Aoi lost her [K][K] /versus/images/icons/mad.gif
