Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Some questions about ps2 to ps3 converters

Greetings fellow fighter enthusiasts. I have this old Namco stick (the grey one with yellow buttons) for the ps2 which I just love to death. Been using it for both VF4 and SC2/SC3 (mostly SC tbh) and while waiting for SC4 I decided to finally get VF5 (it's dirt cheap now so no reason not to really) and after playing with a stick for so long it's just impossible to go back to a pad. The only stick that is available for sale here in Sweden is the HFS3 so considering the fact that it's still working like a charm after all these years of abuse I think I'll just stick (no pun intended) with my old friend and buy a converter instead.

So is my stick guaranteed to work 100% with any PS3 games or are there certain games that won't? I'll most likely just use it for VF5 and SC4. There are many different brands of converters available but I'm guessing there's not any real difference between them? I heard there was an official one but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere so I'll probably buy the one made by Icon.

    Thanks in advance.

I've heard mix story reviews about it. The first side said it worked perfectly, the other side said it didn't register the responses or it doesn't work property.

I guess it won't be much of a loss even if it doesn't work, they don't exactly cost a whole lot. If they had VSHG's for sale here it would be a no brainer but the market for fighting games here is really tiny. :|

with sony's regular firmware updates most of the adapters and sticks available on the market should work without problems.

Bluesummers, there have been many discussions in the past regarding ps2 to ps3 converters. Recall that the PS3 version came out around 1 year ago. Read through some past/old threads for more info.

Having said that, I don't know what the converters are like now, but back then they all had issues with lag. So while they still "worked", the lag made them essentially useless for a fighting game (or any game that requires real time response).

some of them never had lag, for example the pelican adapter (us) or bigben (eur).

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm going to buy the Icon brand converter. Guess I'll just have to wait and see if it has lag or not, it's not a huge loss of money if it does so I'll just take my chances.

If I actually had any competition other than occasionally playing my brother I'd probably invest in a VSHG (would have to import it though) but for mostly just playing the crappy cheating AI it doesn't feel worth it. Here's for hoping the next VF will have online play on the ps3.

I'm in Sweden mate. Fighting scene here is virtually non existant. As a matter of fact the whole arcade business is close to extinct.

The adapter arrived today and as far as I can tell it works perfectly. Happy happy joy joy!

My stick doesn't have one of those analogue buttons in the middle though so I had to connect my regular ps2 controller first, get the adapter synchronized and then plug it out and plug in my stick, then it worked.

I can't notice any lag or anything while playing so if anyone else was wondering what adapter to get I can recommend the one by Icon.
