1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I haven't imported anything in a few years, and Evo is going to get me back on track. I guess that in order to play this i need a JP Playstation, right?

Where's a good place to import the PS2 and the Evo?

And a side question: should i bother with SC2 or wait? Or not at all?

    Thanks folks.

    Regards,
    Aeon

    1. A PS2 (NTSC-J) is the best thing to play it on, but is also a very expensive option. You could opt for a case mod that allows you to play Import games on your US or PAL PS2 without soldering a modchip into it. Go to http://www.ps2case.com and check it out. I use a Messiah chip in mine, but a friend just bought one of these case mods and swap discs and our original games boot up fine. $50 is better than $200+. Also, it is an easy and fast install. Took me about 10 minutes to put it on his machine. Took me like 4 hours to install my Messiah, thats some small solder spots. >_< I'm going to get a case mode soon also, since the Messiah is unable to play DVD-9 games.

    2. My 2 favorite import sites are:
    http://www.ncsx.com/
    http://www.tronixweb.com
*Fairly good service, but I had had best results from Tronix.

    3. If you like SC, then I say go for it. I am going to import the PS2 version myself and a friend is getting the X-Box version. That way we can see which we prefer. Also, I think Link and Spawn are stupid extra characters so I want to use Heihachi (Who still isn't quite right, but his bracers seem sweet.). /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It plays a lot like the 1st SC, but seems to have been simplified a bit. This doesn't make it any less challenging, but it's easier to pick up for first timers. Besides, why wait until August-September when you can have it next month.^-^

You will need a Japanese PS2 to play VF4 Evo.

For a new PS2, check places like NCSX, or HyperGameAction.

Used and new Japanese PS2s can be found on ebay. Input jap* ps2 for your search and click the price heading (that will bring the consoles toward the top of your list). When buying used, I've heard that the SCPH-10000 model is region-free for DVD movies (not games).

I recommend purchasing Evo from NCSX, or HyperGameAction. I've had good experiences purchasing items from both those vendors in the past. Someone has also suggested tronixweb (it wasn't Replicant /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ).

Avoid purchasing from BuyRite Games. Their website inventory doesn't always match what they have in stock so you end up waiting for loooooooonnnnnng periods of time to receive your product. Also, their policies regarding purchases and returns are not in your best interests (all sales final, restocking fee, etc.).

There are other threads on VFDC covering this stuff. Please search through them as well.
