    Sad day for the Internet as we see another forum close down.

    I absolutely hate social media for discussions deeper than 'lookit this cute dog photo lol', so it makes me all the more grateful that VFDC is still around.

    It's quiet now with no new game for a while, but I hope we stick around as it's such a fantastic resource for the game and players new and old alike.

    Damn that pretty sad. But with facebook and Twitter there are much faster ways to get info. But still....its sad to see such a fixture in all that is fighting games come to a end..

    Pretty much, most people seem to go for the convenience of those platforms, even though they aren't very good for archiving or just for discussion in general.

    Everything feels so transient online these days, it genuinely worries me that people feel they have nothing worth preserving to say anymore.

    I feel like forums will survive in a niche capacity at least.

    Why would you say that?

    Here's a snippet of the posts, post likes and active users for 2017. While there has been a gradual decline in "active users", understandable given various factors (other new FGs, etc), forum activity has remained fairly consistent.

    If the forums weren't being used, then you might have a case but that's clearly not the situation. And of course, if a new VF drops, then we'll experience another massive surge in forum activity, as we always do.

    Yeah, VFDC was a bit dead these last 3 months... But it starts to get a little hype again now lol.

    and for SRK, i've never really liked the website and forum, feels bad designed and outdated.

    Myke you know I am trolling as usual of course! :rolleyes: I understand it is not busy anymore because FS is old and there isn't a whole lot happening now offline outside japan. But the VFDC Forum is without a doubt a valuable resource! If it were to disappear I would feel just as upset as some SRK users are right now.

    VFDC is probably the best website for a figthing game (normal for the best fighting game :LOL:), and Myke loves VF so it's not happening...

    There are more chances to see VF6 one day than seeing VFDC closed haha.

    Nall I'm jk-ing Myke. Glad to see you got the info on things like this. I'm very appreciative of what you do. And VFDC is an absolute invaluable source for everything VF. I hope you will continue!

    Man SRK has been around for as long as i can remember it was the first forum i knew about that actually talked in depth about lots of FGs then came orochinagi (Which i'm stunned is still around) then i settled here and never left sad day for SRK users. Seems SRK was only temporary VFDC is FOREVER!!

    You cannot overestimate the importance of the contribution that shoryuken forums have made to the entire fighting game genre and fighting game community.

    When something like this is lost, it is not legitimately replaced, and will ultimately have to be painfully reinvented and rediscovered in some future generation. How very sad.
