I have to agree here 100%

Capcom seems to make certain characters have everything and others just don't have the tools to be a well-rounded, solid character. I like using El Fuerte but I'm sorry, he is truly trash. He basically has one thing, his oki game and that's it. You can count Run-Stop-Fierce, but if you want to get tendinitis practicing that loop, more power to you. I'm not trying to injure myself playing SF and it's the hardest B&B combo I've ever seen.

Regardless, he just can do anything against most of the cast cause he doesn't have anything good enough to stop them from abusing him. All they need is a fireball and/or an uppercut and Fuerte is done for. I invite you to try to beat Ibuki regularly with Fuerte, I know you won't be able to do it. Look at her move set compared to his, Ibuki's blows him out of the water with everything she has, she's actually a well rounded character. He's so one dimensional you can't really say that he's just as good as any of the other characters cause it's blatantly not true. To add to his simplistic move set is the fact that he can't poke well cause his normals have no range because his arms and legs are too short.

He's just not a very good character. He could even be the worst guy in the game IMO. He has limited tools, bad pokes and takes massive damage as he has low health. Seth and Akuma have low health but their good moves and normals make up for it. Fuerte gets the short end of the stick in almost every way.

Thats what i do. Medium kick FTW lol!!! VF makes all fighting games seem dumb. Damn you VF....but thats why i love you so much.
SSF4 is cool until Halo comes out. I mean capcom makes all there game pokefests. Gernbergs. No you see why i stop play Sf4. My character has to work too hard to win. Its not fair.

Is it wrong to find it hilarious when a flowchart Ken who you beat via two Siberian Blizzards calls you a "noob cunt"?

Actually when I played 2D I really did dig KOF98' but I couldn't get into KOF after a certain point. I think I stopped playing it after Heidern was replaced. Samurai Showdown was my addiction for a while even through it's crap versions; which in my opinion were III/IV. Ironically the only 2D games I like a lot are the Vs series games nowadays.

You can't JUST hold d/b through that onslaught at least.

I don't have anything to say about SSF4 that hasn't been said better already. I enjoy it, it's fun and it has a lot of players and people studying the game, but the game isn't as interesting to me as VF or even KoF. I'm not big on SSF4's design ethos is all.

I am challenging you to a match with my fuerte. I am going to change your mind about the character and I would like for you to play me on-line if it's not possible for us to meet up somewhere in the Boston area. Add me to your friends list-XBL Vile Vigiliante.

It takes ALOT to learn a character fully in SF, everything is soo situational. I might say my character can't handle "x" situation, and that another may handle it soo much better than my character can, but my character just might be able to handle the situation in a way I haven't thought/knew about. Learning these things and matchups is alot of fun imo

The practice mode SF4 is so good, just because you can re-create any situation you want (in theory. works well though.)

Now that is the spirit I like how you say that so what if a character can't do certain things as well as you want. Finding a creative way around that issue. There are many options available to any character. It may be hard to find it at first but with enough practice a solid answer will always be found.

It took me ages to get competent enough with Elf just to beat the flowcharts & scrubs. You've used him a week and are already dropping him...

so who's next for you to use? [IMG]

I decided it was time to go back to my time-tested main, Abel. There's no way in hell El Fuerte is as good as Abel. He has massive weaknesses. Maybe you've learned to compensate for them over time but I don't see how that actually makes him solid. I definitely am not saying you cannot win with him at all, cause I could beat most players, but against a solid player using a solid character, he's at a big disadvantage.

He has some useful stuff but he's not my cup of tea right now because I actually find him frustrating to use a lot of times. I'm trying to enjoy the game and Fuerte wasn't the guy for me to do that with. I'm not saying I'll never try him again but I needed a break for his flaws.

Look at run stop fierce combo, if you do three reps into slide it's a very difficult combo for the amount of damage. Abel can dish that out MUCH more easily and he takes a lot less damage as well.

I have one match up with Fuerte that really made his weaknesses show, Ibuki. Explore that match up and tell me what he can really do there?

And as you said, i t took you ages to be able to reliably beat scrubs, that seems to indicate that he does have some big holes in his game. I think his major problems are low damage, low health and his weakness trying to control the ground without many good pokes.

I accept your challenge and will try to remember to find you online tonight.

I got complimentary messages from people in ranked when I was using Fuerte cause I did manage to be effective with him but even one or two mistakes can mean the end of the round for him. If you eat an Ultra in a round it's basically over, a full Ultra does well over 50% of life right there. Where you might get a few more exchanges with another character, Fuerte dies with an orange flash in the background.

My thing is, Worst player, why you are intent on playing garbage characters in the first place. Dan hasn't been viable since the alpha series. Hakan sucks, as does Dan.

So you play garbage characters and then you come back and complain they suck? Why not just play better characters? SSFIV isn't nearly good enough a game to worry about this stuff anyway. I'm just confused at the mindset going on here.

I play characters I like. Requisites: Odd, Big, Ugly, Killer types, or black. All black characters except for Dudley are disqualified in SFIV because they are charge characters.

How good a character is has no baring on who I play but I'm
not one of those people that knock people who "play to win."
I just happen to play to win using characters I like. If I can't
I probably won't play the game long.

I agree with you; its the only reason I can stomach SSFIV somewhat because there are some characters I give a shit about now. And in say marvel where top tier rules I have stuck to my low-tier team for 3, almost four years now.

My thing is, it can't be fun playing characters that are as limited and bad as Hakan/Dan but again, I see where you're coming from.

Don't get me wrong I've won with Hakan and Dan through sheer force of will to not make mistakes, but I wish the reward for that patience was a little more prevalent. Then again it might be I suck with my pad.

Ah man, are you playing with 360 pad?

Me too; that thing fucking sucks. I've been a pad player for a long time, I've learned all my shit for Marvel on Dreamcast pad, played Saturn, just about everything BUT I CANNOT USE THE 360 PAD. It refuses to work. For example I play Ibuki, its fucking odd, I can't get 236+P and 623+P to come out consistently at all but yet I can with with Akuma and when she is jumping (kunai). Its also is very finicky with giving me 214+K (spin kicks) and 421 (face bounce) which is very frustrating considering I could need that qcb+K to end the damn round.

And finally the kicker...I have tried to do qcb moves at times and it READS THE MOTION IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I have never had shit happen before. I have been trying to break this damn thing in for a week with no success. And to top it off it doesn't let me pull off ultras! It just gives me a EX move. WTF, man.

I didn't want to deal with the 360 pad so I bought the SSF4 fighter pad and it really helps too. I play VF with the fighter pad and it works for that game too. I would never want to think about playing SF on a 360 pad at all oddly enough I can play VF with the default 360 controller pretty good if I wanted to.

I got my B rank with Abel last night! (I know, big deal. But you gotta start somewhere...)

I think Abel is pretty strong this time around. The Wheel Kick has to be one of my favorite moves in the entire game. His EX moves are all pretty much awesome too. EX Wheel Kick? Gimme some more of that!!!

I end A LOT of rounds with EX Wheel Kick, it destroys people, especially projectile characters. Crouch fierce xx EX Wheel is a deadly punisher for a misplaced anti-air special move. Cammy is lucky she flies back off a blocked Thrust Kick cause I don't think she could even handle three reps of that combo without dying. You have to settle for a LP CoD punish instead (E. Honda can probably relate [IMG] )

One crazy thing that did happen is a Hakan air-grabbing me right out of EX Wheel. I didn't even think that was possible but apparently it is. Probably has insanely specific timing though and I'm positive this guy did NOT do it on purpose... I'll give it to TWP that Hakan is pretty damn easy to beat. He has a sick Focus Attack but my favorite move armor breaks so it's not a huge deal. Some characters don't armor break well at all (Balrog, Cammy, Fei Long, etc.) so it's probably pretty deadly against them.

My last thing is that I wish they would just release all the Alternate costumes all at once, I'd buy them anyway but it sucks to wait for Capcom to put it out piecemeal. They should put it out however they want but give the option to buy them all at once from day one. Then, only the people who don't want them all would have to wait; that's a much better way to more money off of it, cause I assume the goal is to get people to buy them all anyway and that model would work really well IMO.

Re: SSF4 Good Games Thread/SSFIV Discussion Thread

They're releasing the complete costume pack about two weeks after the last costume pack is released, so you have to wait until July to get them all in one much cheaper go.

Abel is a lot stronger now. His normals are stronger and faster, CoD is safe on block, Breathless is nasty and the fact that he can out-grab Ultimate Atomic Buster with a non-EX Tornado Throw made me a sad Giefer.

You can however do a focus attack against Breathless to hit him and then backdash to avoid the grab. I don't know how reliable it is, but I did it once with Chun-li.
