Storing custom character on Memory Unit

I saved a copy of my Virtua Fighter 5 game data from my hard drive to the 360 memory unit, but when I put the card in another 360, my custom character wouldn't show up, and the game wouldn't even recognize any saved data period. When the game asked what data to load up at the main menu, I picked the memory card, so I didn't mess up there. Anybody know what I did wrong?

Did you copy or "recover" your gamer profile to your MU as well?

If not you need to do that, because without being signed in to the profile that saved the data, you can't load the save data.

Unless you *always* only play at home. It's better to have your gamer profile on an MU (as long as you're careful not to lose it!) as it gives you flexibility to go anywhere.
