Eh? Is the emoticon expressing that you're scared that the game might have an in game manual?

A downloadable title having a printed instruction booklet would make me go [IMG]

C'mon Feck, its easy to find things to criticize me on. But you know a online instruction booklet or strategy guide would not be practical.

Obviously the already initiated do need them at all. But imagine someone new to the game entirely. Sometimes you want some information out of the manual while you're in a game play screen. Most online instruction booklets I've seen, you're either in the game or in the manual, and the manual tends to skimp on info etc. Hence the [IMG] emoticon

Why is it so hard to get a simple answer for simple question out of you cats. Everything has to be a science project [IMG]

I don't understand why you think anyone here would know (or share) the answer.

When that dude was doing the question and answer someone asked if there would be an Evo style tutorial. He replied it was "something they're looking at". Pretty non-committal, but we can hope.

First of all Po. I know youre psyched!!!! Getting VF online play after waiting 4 years!!!! I wish I saw your first reaction to the news.

That said, arent you the fake-Budda monk guy? With all your eastern philosophy BS mumbo-jumbo, go learn japanese , Buy the VF5 FS Masters guide online, problem solved. Console features? How about Dural playable online after you unlock her. She's playable in XB 360 offline vs, why not online too? That oversight needs to be rectified.

With or without a printed guide, FS is going to rock!!!! Good times , man. Really though , VFDC is all the FS guide you'll need.

Dural could be fun so long as the option to stop her being selected in matches exists. Could get ridiculous otherwise.

If Sega wishes to grab a bigger audience without sacrificing the gameplay in the process, they're gonna have to add personalities to identify with.

Ergo, story mode is a must.

I wonder how it would look if it was drawn like Tekken or how it would look 3D animated. Either way I think it would be great.

I'm wondering how big of a audience are people expecting, a story mode would make a difference of.

From reading opinions from other fighting related communities over the years, they don't particularity care for this series overall.

Take in to account the fact that the only development characters get are if and only IF the player reads the game manual, sees win quotes, and intros. When people play a game they tend to stick with it when they can relate to or find something they like about a character. Mix that in with VF's amazing gameplay and you've got one hell of an audience attractor.

People need to stop being so pessimistic just because they read some other game's fanboy's negative comments about VF, they can go to their corner and play their game. They don't represent everyone. With the announcement of FS, I assure you, there are PLENTY of new people that will play.

I don't see how it will work, even if there is a minority that agrees here. Pretty much every Sega title has a niche and will never attract big audiences except for maybe Sonic.

Look at how big Quake 3 was and it had no cutscenes, excessive cgi or panty shots. I could go into detail as to why it's not needed for VF and would never make a difference either way but we've been through this a thousand times before and it bores the shit out of me.

    Agreed.

But can you imagine Aoi's ending with Brad? Hate sex will be imminent.

An academic point: the fact that FS is going to be a downloadable title will limit the length of any proposed story mode. It will be a hard sell if it's going to take up 15 gigabytes of a users hard drive. As it is, if Sega is going to so much effort to do this console release "right" , I can't see them botching the story mode angle. If Sega is going so far as to eliminate quest mode, it had better be for a proper story mode. Why else would they set the console release so far into 2012?

So may say the August 2012 release date is so they can include the latest arcade update, but the next update will most likely just be further balances and tweaks, and could be administered with a free patch . After Sega spent so much time balancing FS already , I dont see any major changes down the road.

If there is a story mode, it will probably be as light and trivial as DOA's for space constraints.

Well, if they stay playing long term and not quit in a short amount of time, I would be suprirsed. It has more to do than listening to the others, it's just past sales that have me skeptical. I can be a believer when I see it.

And that's enough. At the very least, it's a good start.

It would be great if Sega can put a lot of new additional stuff into the console version; but I think story mode is the least important to me (especially if it will just be a trivial one. I can just play KOTSP). I won't even be disappointed if they give us a lackluster training mode.

If I remember correctly, I think the console release have some budget constraints. If Sega can give me an arcade perfect port with vf.net-like features, I will be happy.

What is more important to me, is what will happen after Final Showdown is released on console. In summer 2012, Final Showdown will be ~2 years old. I am quite sure AM2 is working on the latest version of VF, whether it is a small revision or the next major release.

I hope the petition we did a while ago was a strong enough message to Sega: please make their games available to everyone within a reasonable amount of time. Having to wait 4 years for updates (that were available only to the arcades in Japan) is not a reasonable amount of time. If Sega gives the VF community outside of Japan the opportunity to actually play their games, then it is within our own control of whether our community grows bigger or die.

I thought they would just share out of love [IMG]

@richkwondo fake, monk, buddy guy[/size] WAT? you really know how to kick a brother where it hurts [IMG]

I'm only looking out for the noobs as a far as the VF5FS manual goes. I know this will be a shock, but there are many VF players who have no idea what VFDC is, and there will be many new players in 2012 who will download VF5FS and have no idea what VFDC is. So how are they going to even know the simple J6
    story line?

Real talk, over the last 3 months I've met 4 VF players who've been playing since V4EVO and none of them had ever been to virtuafighter.com once. So don't assume that everyone that plays the game gets online to find VFDC, because they don't.

There's nothin wrong with a brady guide, or printed manual in some cases they can be a good thing.
