I've been reading all of the VF things I can find. VFDC is a fantastic resource (the link to Rico's FAQ list was also helpful)! One thing I haven't been able to find is an overview of the specific strengths and weaknesses of the different characters. The move lists with the damage for each move is helpful, but I'm looking for something more general such as "Character X has especially powerful throws and is best played by taking advantage of .... " or "Character Y has faster kicks than many of the VF characters and this is best captialized by..."

Is there a resource like this anywhere? The tutorials, FAQs, and various guides don't seem to address this basic question. Thanks.

PS The IGN guide was helpful in this regard. I was hoping VFDC had something similar with more detail buried somewhere in the site. I've started with Lau, but there wasn't much about Lau at the VFDC Lau section...

This charecter selection guide might get you started. It's subjective, but nice.

And R.O strength = Ring Out Strength.

Thanks -- That is helpful. I didn't realize that on the table on the front page, the table title "Virtua Fighter 4" was clickable!!!

I guess that's the most detailed centralized resource for character selection on VFDC?

There are a couple of threads that were current when Ice-9 put the character guide together. Search the forum for "tiers" and look for Ice's posts and you should find them. There's some flamage in there... but it's a good read IMO if you're curious. Heh, searching for posts with "Akira" and "pig" should net the same results... /versus/images/icons/wink.gif
