A good portion of the characters have throws that are just hits or a string of hits. These should not be changed if used on Taka. However over head lifts and tosses should be restricted to Wolf, Jeffry, and Vanessa. They can modify the other characters tossing throws like Akira's 46P+G could act like the old version against Taka with less of a knock away.

    A?!

I think people are overestimating how much sumos weigh are. If you look it up, average sumos are approximately 150kg (330 pounds).

Jeffry is 111kg (244 pounds). So as long as you make Taka a "slightly smaller" sumo than average, then you should be fine.

Yes but if we are talking VF3 Taka then no. Even if he is smaller then that is still a lot of weight.

I mean you can make the change story-wise, rather than gameplay wise. You don't even have to make him look different if you don't want to.

Otherwise, we should also give Eileen the special property that she gets KOed after one punch from Jeffry, because that's "realistic". ..

    lol that would be hilarious.

i would not a problem with that myself. It would be nice to have a realistic damage mode. Tweak the damages for this mode and you are done. I suppose I just miss the realistic game Bushido Blade with one hit kills.

I loved Bushido Blade. However, GMonroy...the unrealistic nature of the Virtua Fighter series is part of its charm, wouldn't you agree?

The rumor of Taka being back in VF5 R made me curious...how did he play in VF3? What was his style like (well yeah, it's sumo wrestling...but how does that translate to VF)?

Was he like Brad? Jeffry? Wolf?

Can one of the vets help me out here and describe how he plays?</div></div>

He had lot of punchattacks (slaps in Sumo, he had for example PPPPPP string (yes 6 punches)) and he had large assortment of throws reminiscent of real sumo. He was kind of like wolf in this case with the slaps thrown in. He was also very fast rushing forward when it came to that, reminiscent of the initial charge in sumo ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif ). Other non-sumo moves were bit slow-and-heavy looking if you know what I mean (like his knee). He had the largest downattack you will ever see.

On the minus side, there were several Taka-specific combos where he was bouncing like a beach ball. (someone propably linked some Lions combos on him already)

His weight made conventional aircombos impossible to perform on him, several throws had special animations when performed on him.

  12. Sounds fun...might have to take on another character...

Taka smaller? Nah, he is a 2 meters sumotori. I think he would fine in Virtua Fighter 4 after playing Shenmue 2 where Ryo was facing one of the biggest and tallest opponent. Probably AM2 wer too ambitious about Taka Harashi and waited to fully use the physics of the fat body in a better way.
IMHO, what kinda sadden me about both Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 are the lack of block animation for circular move and such. Competition is getting as now Street Fighter 4 brought E. Honda on the ring.
