It looks like this could be pretty cool. I was never a fan of the item moves, and they look as useless as ever. They're pretty funny, though. LOL at Xiaoyu giving everyone panda heads. I don't know of any system changes at this point, and from the trailer I didn't notice any differences in the gameplay. It looks like it might just be more items, characters, and balance tuning. Then again, I haven't looked into the game anymore than just watching the trailer.

So what do you guys think?

Here's a thread with all of the gameplay related changes plus vids of actual gameplay:

Anyways, the game looks pretty amazing to be honest with you...The item moves are a fun novelty and the gameplay changes sound great so far...All of T6's problems are being addressed...and not to mention, the game's stages are giving off a heavy T4 vibe...Which is a good thing, considering that was my fav. Tekken. lol

As for the new characters, Alissa(Who may be related to Dr.B) and Lars really do look like they got lost on their way to King Of Fighters: Maximum Impact...Still, they look pretty cool...but, once again, very out of place...

I'm actually looking forward to Tekken again...Now, I just need to hear a console release date...

Lars looks like Jin with a Dragonball Z haircut. I'm not big into Tekken and the trailer hasn't swayed me, however there IS one thing I can say Namco does right here. The stages are great and the music gets you pumped for fighting.

Thanks Lucid_Nightmare. Better damage scaling sounds good. Also it seems as though the wall slump is faster. Maybe no more Hwoarang WB! RFF 3~4~f RFS 2 d/f+1 d/f+3,f+4. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Oh well. Combos needed to be toned down.

This was the first ting I thought when I saw him too. Honestly though, after looking at the trailer and how Tekken really looks, they could probably swing a buck at SNKP for a roster implication of some "dream" thing and hit a miniature gold mine. Tekken and KoF really play pretty similarly when you get down to it anyway.

Hmmm I really used to like Tekken but now it’s a big joke...items look stupid and the combos are way too crazy. The game looks like tekken + mortal kombat + killer instinct = crap...the only thing I like is that they got a lot of characters

I agree 100% though Tekken has always been based on gimmicks. Like MK's fatalities DOA's scantily clad females, Tekken's known gimmicks from the jump were not ONLY a typical Bruce Lee clone but a Jacky Chan clone too! Along with Blade, Goldberg, Michael Jackson (Violet/Lee) Kung Fu Panda and friends. Sparks and lightning effects to mask poor collision detection. 16 foot launchers for juggle combos and the whole "well at least Tekken has 4 attack buttons vs VF's 2 attack buttons and a block button". I'm sure all VF fans have heard that once or twice from a Tekken fan.

Is it just me or the more you play VF the more sub-par all of the other fighting games seem. I hate feeling like that because Tekken II got it started for me and fighting games and then Tekken III put it over the top for me. I love Heihachi, Lei (with his animal styles) & Feng and would love to see those type of styles incorporated in VF but on a more realistic basis.

No doubt I am going to get this game, but I am always waiting for the next Great VF game.

WTF did they do to TEKKEN? Gimmicks over gameplay?

People need to get off their high horses.

No, there's no gimmicks over gameplay.

I don't own a horse, I just wish tekken seemed more realistic, but hey thats just me.

I play Tekken just to mess around but with each installment I have to take it less and less serious.
The new characters look like clones. That new cyborg chick fights like Lily with a rocketpack.
Honestly, no hate here since I do really appreciate what they've done with Bruce and I've always thought that Eddy was a badass but I just don't think that they're too concerned with taking their time and developing Tekken into the best fighter it could be.

The way it looks to me, Namco is more concerned with beating VF to the punch with more characters, more moves and more flash isntead of substance. When was the last time that one single innovative thing was added to the Tekken series? Tekken 4 and then they took it away bc people got pissed o_O

They say familiarity breeds contempt but the way that people are flocking to fighters like SC4 and T6 it seems that most people just want more of the same. Meanwhile with VF they take away and add so many different things and what does VF have to show for it? A bunch of whiners who quit the game bc they added techrolling or took away an evade button or (add other b.s. here) =/
This is the reason that developers don't take risks and why most lucrative franchises (such as Madden) don't stray too far from the formula. People always think that VF players think they're elite or smarter than other fighting game fans but the truth is if you like VF then you probably demand more from a fighting game than the b.s. that Namco calls a "new" game in the series. Seriously, who takes this game seriously? People who don't mind that Tekken is the same game as 5 with a couple of new characters and a few new moves, that's who.
Lol, they even have the same intros and win poses and from 5 in 6, lol.

Why? Since when does realism make a fighting game better? And don't mention VF, there's nothing realistic about VF.

Lucid Nightmare, I wouldn't hold my breath on a release date. Remember, we still haven't even seen the first one here in arcades. Of the T6 machines that are in the US, they were all imported since Namco decided not to do an official release here in the States.

MaltLiqua, only thing I wouldn't agree with you with is the part with Kung Fu Panda. Panda has been in the game since Tekken 3. Kung Fu Panda came out later.

While I'll no doubt still buy the game, I'd have to agree with Aoimaster. They're laying down the gimmick rather thick here.
