Doubt they'll have anything solid to announce for a while, the fact that it's in production was a given but I doubt we'll see or hear anything about the game for another 1 - 2 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had the game out by next fall.

They should try and cut down the amount of juggling in the game! Of course that's just what i think! But all it takes is one move with a lot of the characters then you may as well put the pad down and watch as you eat a string of combination's you cant actually do jack about!! Tone down the combo juggling a bit and take away some of the more outrageous characters with the spamming combos like Feng or Alisa or Christine, as if she was needed when there was already Eddy who's bad enough!

They definitely should change their recipe.
If Tekken reduced its juggles, reduced wall combos and removed some spam/abusable characters, its number of players would rise all the way to VF's!

...Seriously, if people didn't like cheap stuff they'd be playing another game. Add a third capoeira character, make it an android that looks like a woman, refer to it as a man, and that'll double the sales.

i still don't get why namco keeps so much of tekken's inner workings a secret.

they've only started releasing frame data with tekken 6, and it's only partial. and now they're already announcing tekken 7? it's as if they want people to have the current game figured out just as it's going out of date.

There's just too much stuff in Tekken 6 that it's overwhelming. Namco is probably too lazy to release all the data because of poor sales and wants to just move on to the next project.

Even if T7 were to be released I would expect it to not come out for consoles for quite some time due to the poor reception T6 got.

Personally, I think Tekken should be condensed. The game wouldn't be that bad if there wasn't so many characters and moves. Not to mention that almost every character has some type of annoyingly safe or really difficult to block launcher that takes roughly 40-50% of your health bar.

Yep, thats imo Tekken 6BR's biggest problem. Im surprised how good character balance they managed to make with that roster, but theres simply too much to learn in that game.

that's what stopped me from playing. there was just way to much to learn and eventually the game stop being fun. I think I stopped playing in less than 1 week after I realized just how much content was in there. The game doesn't have to be a super easy pick up and play like SF or DOA, but really if they cut the cast by half and reduced the juggling a bit then I'll most likely be playing the next one a lot longer than a few days.

    I second this motion...

Having a lot of characters is good to a point in some types of fighting games but just adding in two trillion characters in a game like Tekken is actually just too many. Someone who memorized all of the moves somehow could just choose a different character every time and just do 10-hit strings (such a bad game mechanic BTW) on you and win. Maybe some you might get a hold of but then they'll just switch to the next random idiot. Even then, it's just busy work to try to remember all the shit you'd need to. I don't know, I just don't like that method of making a fighting game.

I don't fault them for trying it and I think they did a good job on some characters and others were just so so. Some of them seemed like they were added just for the sake of adding them. Almost as if they chose to just dump more characters in than improve the gameplay itself. Obviously, this is just my opinion but I think I'm on to something.

When you have a roster of 45+ characters, but it's not like a 2D game where the move sets are more limited, you end up with a game that just isn't manageable anymore.

Dunno, Namco made gangbusters off of T6.

Also, 'T7' is TTT2 imo. Bet it. [IMG]

Does VF have 100+ 10 hit string combos that you have to learn to block? I rest my case. Each character has what 2 maybe 3 10 hit combos and like Gernburgs saids it's pretty damn annoying to learn how to block these things. First you have to recognize which one they are using then you have to KNOW where and when you can interrupt. And as he said, if you happen to win they just move to the next idiot and repeat. Sorry that's way to much content right there alone for me. I still haven't even learned how to safely get up or learn the mechanics behind properly using the evade system. Oh yeah I still have to learn how to break throws on reaction which is something I honestly feel that either you got it or you don't. The system isn't designed like VF where if you practice it over and over you will get really good at it because VF TE system is more of an anticipation thing. Tekken's is really based on reflexes and to top that off sometimes depending on which stance a character is in it's really hard to tell which hand is forward. Damn... and I still haven't even learned how to juggle properly, wall combo or alternate juggles for when we break through the floor.

Yeah I'll take VF. Heck I'll take DOA, KOF, SF, Breakers... even Karnov's Revenge.

Rodney what you've just said can be made into an argument about any fighting game. The amount of people I know who try to play VF and say "I can't see throws". It's just an adaptation thing.

Yeah the 10 strings thing is Zzzzz now. But it's been there from Tekken 1. I've even seen top ranked players in Korea lose to a 10 string LOL...

Anyway the point is its easier for you with VF because you've walked over a ton of hoops already. But they're both just as intimidating now. VF is easier to explain on paper because its a much more discreet game. Which you and I clearly prefer.

I had more more to say but I gotta run!

I have nothing really worthwhile to add to the Tekken discussion, but I feel the need to say "BALLOON".

Yes, I actually liked Karnov's Revenge.

VF has about half the character roster of T6. All T6 characters have multiple mid/low/mid bullshitstrings that you have to remember and in general more moves than their VF counterparts. Large roster is different for 2D games where the characters specials can be counted with fingers of one hand usually.

Youre right but thats not what I was referring to. I was referring to the sheer amount of moves in Tekken.

All the strings are what put me off learning the game, I felt I could deal with everything else but the strings were endless.

I never thought I'd hear VF players complaining Tekken is too hard to learn. The apocalypse is coming. Where's the flying pigs?

Granted I was probably more hardcore in TTT and Tekken 3 than I've been in most fighting games being all national tourney worth and all but shit I still find VF after diligent play more difficult for me than Tekken ever was.

Maybe its due to my everlasting struggle with the pad on xbox. I never played Tekken on a pad before.
