Im so damn confused, dont know whether I wanna play VF or Tekken... But fa real, VF is 70% of my game now, and Tekken is the other 30% -_- . But TexasLion, dood, your movement is wicked now! Im glad u told me how to do that shit, I should be ready for u by friday. Im also branchin off to other characters. I was gone play with Aoi but then I forgot that ghey ass jason plays with her and I dont wanna touch no character that he touches >_< . Well, hope to see u over here Friday man..

Here's a much more detailed description of the minami step and how its done minami thread

Myke's post is probably the easiest to learn from. He post the basic examples. Just scroll down a bit. Work on that and get your ass in quest mode and you'll be on your way. Here's the quest mode translations Quest FAQ

I suggest just putting the game on beginner and getting to the last arcade (don't worry about those side quest, just worry about opening up the tournies and getting to the next arcade), then putting it back on normal once you get there. You'll get there faster, and you'll start your training as soon as possible. But be sure to switch it back to normal afterwards. And only play on the last arcade. When you can beat the players there regularly, then you'll know you are getting better.

But I'll be over this weekend for sure. I want you to stick with VF man. I want to see you suprise everyone and show them you got the skills.

Yeah no problem.

Oh, and some tips to help you burn through the quest to get to the last arcade the fastest.

1. When the arcade says you must beat a certain percentage of the players, like 50%, only opponents with no STAR by their names count, so just exit and reenter the arcade whenever someone with a STAR pops up. STAR means you've played them already. It'll save you a lot of time if you don't bother with the STAR players.

2.When reaching Sega Arena Uptown, you got to collect 10 VF character emblems to open up the tournament. If you want to beat this the fastest, just keep exiting and reentering until you see an opponent with one of those emblems under their names, but it has to be an emblem with a VF characters face on it to count. Something like a VF sign or symbol or whatever doesnt count. You'll exit and reenter a lot, but its faster then beating crappy opponents who won't get you anything to begin with. You'll eventually find 10 players with 10 emblems so just beat them all.

3. The next arcade after this is Sega World North. To open up the tourney you got to beat the 3 top players. Again, just keep exiting until you see the guys you must beat. You'll know who they are by the trophy under their name. Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Defeating these 3 guys is the only way to open up the tournies.

4. Keep it on beginner until the last arcade. Then put it back on to normal and get ready for a crash course in how to play this game properly. Just remember, you need to play fast and react fast. That's key in this game at top levels. Playing slow will get you killed.

And even with all this, it'll take a good 5 to 7 hours to open up the last arcade, so it still takes some time. But it's better then days and weeks to open it up.

Yes the other Dallas people are goin, but not for virtua fighter -_- . They are goin for Tekken and Soul Calibur. Of course one of them will win Tekken, hopefully TEXAS can bring home first in VFEVO at E8. Its coo that u comin down.. Im assumin that TexasLion is yer brother /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif .. It'll be coo to meet u. Yeah we're rolling up to E8 pretty massive. Its about 13 or so people goin from Texas all the way up there. One of these games is guaranteed victory.. Welp, guess I'll see u when u get here.. Hopefully u can make it to one of our get to gethers when u get here...

Man, I'm going to be cutting it really close. Frank at the earliest wont get in from CO until 5:30 pm next friday, so we wouldn't leave DFW until around 6 pm. So that means we wouldn't arrive in Austin until around 9:30 pm. Can you guys hold off the tourney until 10 pm if possible? If not, I understand.

Also, how about a $2 tourney, winner take all? Give the winner something to walk away with. Even $1 is better then nothing. Something about non paying tournies to me feel like there not real tournies.

And Dom, are you going to be busy next Friday? This Austin tourney will be real good practice if you're seriously getting into VF. Esp. since E8 is the following week. If you're too busy with SC2 and Tekken practice or whatever, I understand though. It's just I rather ride if you if I don't have to take my own car.

Oh, is anyone interested in going to the NY tourney with me and junosynth the 2nd week of Dec.? I found a full size car at Avis for $137 for the week, so we'll be driving there. If you go, you'll need to bring $$$ to half the cost with everyone that goes. Car rental, gas, motel, etc..and still worry about tourney fee and food money and all that. I know it's not likely someone will want to travel all the way to NY and spend that kind of money, but just letting you guys know incase ya'll want a ride. I got room for 2 more. Unless we rent a van or something and take 6 or 7 peeps.

Showing up a bit late isn't a problem, there'll certainly be a little bit of set-up & goof off time. If you know you're coming & post up, we can also schedule your matches after other folks.

As for the money thing, putting cash in a pot, winner-take-all is probably a little too close to gambling for university regs. We can do stuff like selling tickets & having a prize (say, video game store gift cert for roughly the same $$) to keep things kosher, but that's a bit much to go through for next friday. I'm certainly down for setting it up for the december tourney if folks are just dying to spend money - opinions about $$ amounts are welcome.

as for future gatherings / tourneys, this is the schedule as of now:

November 7th, 9pm - 3am: tourney
November 21st, 11pm - 3am
December 5th, 10pm - 3am
December 12th, 6pm - 3am: tourney

Everything's still in pearce hall at the texas union (check the building map once inside to find the room)

So what happened, hardly no one showed up this time around... kinda scary. We ended up trading between VF4 and 4p multitap Tag... whee!!

I'm not ever reliable to show up because of car issues and money issues right now. It's not easy for me to drive to Austin on a Friday night, and it's even worst right now with me saving my money for the Iowa trip next week. Spending just $20 on gas to go to Austin is out of my budget right now.

Dom is probably practicing for Iowa so he's probably too busy playing T4, SC2, and TTT. Jason works on Friday nights so we can't use his car (not that we could anyway, it's a POS), and Mike doesn't even own a car. That's about everyone here that plays, us 4.

Junosynth comes into town Tuesday, so when we come back from Iowa, we'll definitely try to come down. Hopefully I can get Mike and Dom to come with us to Austin.

But again, it's only me and Dom who can drive to Austin, and I'm still having to share a car with my family on Fridays. So we'll see.

Yeah, we were all set to go too. Like 4 of us from TX, but the last day things got f'd up for me and my brother, causing the other 2 guys to not go too. So yeah, it sucks big time we couldn't go and play everyone. It looked like everyone had a blast.

Anyway, I look foward to playing you maddy and everyone else, whenever that will be. I know we'll have some fun matches.
