The 2004 E3 Gathering

Date: Friday, May the 14th, 2004.

Time: 7:30 pm till...

Place: Plague's House - 8538 Wild Pony Drive Riverside, CA 92509

Directions from Los Angeles:

60 East, past the 57 and 15 freeways
Exit Pedley
Right turn on Pedley
Left turn on Mission (first traffic light)
Right turn on Agate (first right, no stop sign)
Left turn on Wild Pony Drive (first left)

Address numbers on house. Silver Honda Odyssey in driveway.

Will you hit traffic? Oh, yeah. Lots of it. Don't let that sway you! If you want to play some serious VF, this trip is worth every minute of it.

What we provide: Three TVs, US PS2 with Evo, Japanese PS2 with Evo, two evo sticks, two ASCII sticks, fridge full of soda, couple or three bags of chips, places to sit, room for five or six (maybe seven?) VF setups.

What you all need to bring: Biggest TVs you can come up with and fit in your car (remember, it's better to have too many), POWER STRIPS, your PS2s, your sticks, and your evo discs.

What about food? Everyone usually chips in for food. Lots of fast food in the area plus we found a new, less expensive pizza that tastes good! Last time we had Pizza Hut cause it was the only place open after 10. Maybe Domino's is open later - but hey, it Domino's.

E3's gonna be busy as hell, though... even these last few weeks have been incredibly hectic for me. Yet inbetween I try to post little quips here, because VFDC is my love. ^^

Uh...I'm bringing a friend of mine, he's still learning but wants to know as much about the game as possible.

Please help him out as much as possible, he wants to practice for EVO...maybe.

He's asked me to get good character variety, like have everyone use all the characters they know how to use, but I'm sure there will be enough people so that every character is used to it's fullest to show my friend.

Like I said, he's somewhat of a beginner but he catches on real fast.

my friend's name is "Amir" and he's pretty good in 2d fighters...he got top 8 (5th place) in CvS2 at last year's EVO making it his best title...he's also good in 3rd strike and MvC2, he also enjoys playing TTT and SC2 to some extent...he's using his knowledge in Tekken Tag to try and catch up on VF but he's finding it very different and so it seems he has to start all over again

btw, he's interested in some characters, mainly Akira and Jeffry (maybe little Jacky and Brad too?!?)

he tried playing Brad and said he was fun, Akira is a bit too hard for him but he loves the challenge and Jeffry is definitely his character of choice and will probably be his main...apparently he doesn't like the chick characters as much because they aren't very appealing, but I'll leave that up to you guys to help him through and guide him along the way

also, there was another friend that was supposed to come but he'll be in Ohio and is somewhat more knowledgeable in every title than my friend that's coming (they're like rivals and his name is peter)

Edit: btw, is there anyone who knows where I can get another Evo stick? I'm looking into buying one but I'll prolly end up blowing my $ on fixing up my MAS for Evo which I don't really want to do but will have to.
I found one online at Buy-Rite for about $58 but I've heard bad rumors about the place...NCSX is also a good place
...as it is, I bought my current stick for about $70 and was gipped because I found out later that the store I went to in Monterey Park was a chinese owned store and what they did was drive to the other "Japanese" store, bought it there for cheaper and sold it to me to make some $ (just assuming tho)
any advice? I was gonna get it for my friend so we could practice...

Reno and I are going to go to a UCLA SC2 Tourney the same night, but maybe he'll want to drop by sometime in the later hours. It'll probably be way too late, but who knows? For all I know, VF'ers could be a bunch of crazy party animals. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

 

The usual get togethers at our place have run till 7 or 8 am lately. I don't expect this one to be any different.

Things should get started about 7:30 pm Friday night and run till whenever the last person is ready to leave. I might ask people to go by Saturday night (over 24 hours later) so I can sleep. I haven't run into that situation yet. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Edit: Its obvious yet again that just as in vfhome Shou can take a joke and never abuses his mod/op powers.

Seriously I have a problem with the guy, always have probably always will, I ran from his challenge at VF4 and received an ass kicking at it two years ago, I never seem to have recovered from that after all the trashtalking I did before.
As I said I am angry whith him and do I hold a grudge, my behaviour does get tiresome tough.

I'm also trying to get another friend of mine to go...well, he's actually a friend of a friend, but he's interested. I just have to wait to see if he can go or not. But right now he's a maybe. I'll know by middle of the week next week to see if he can go.

P.S. he claims he can Quad Throw Escape and found an easier way to do it...I'll have to see this and he plays Sara/Akira.
