The 5th Event: Homestay & Kyasao in NY - June 4 - 6

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Anybody interesting in hanging out and playing with Kyasao and Homestay Akira - the VF gods? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif They have booked their tickets and will arrive in New York to sight-see, play vf, and just hang out with US players.

I am in the process of getting free hotel rooms at the following hotel in Riverhead, Long Island: www.budgethosteastend.com

I've held numerous events at the above hotel. It is 2 hours away by train from Manhattan (1 hr 15 minutes by car), so it is not the most convenient location, but i can get free hotel rooms and a large meeting area that allows for 4-5 setups.

I think a 2-on-2 team battle is very possible and would be mad fun - as long as someone wants to take charge and organize the tournament.

I know this is extremely short notice, but i wanted to hold an event before FT is released in japan. I am pretty sure interest in playing EVO in US will wane on the part of Japanese players after the release of FT (early - mid July from what i hear).

Expect some kind of "tetsujin fee". The amount will depend on the number of people confirmed, of course. I have to recoup a little under a $1000 just to let everyone know...

Damn, maybe we can put it off a few more days...I don't get back into the states untill the 10th of June.. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif Also, that is the same time as Ohio...maybe get more people if it can be pushed back a bit?

Hey Adam, Don't you dare rent a tournament spot without first talking to me about coming to my cafe for it! My cafe is only like 15 minutes by bus (5 by car) from 175th street. Its free. I'll have 10 tv's (5 ps2's but yall can bring more so we can have 10 set ups) air conditioning (hopefully) and all the playtime you guys want! Anyways holla at me / pm me for more details!

I probably can't attend... but I'd be happy to contribute to the Tatsujin fee if we can set up something where Homestay/NAL can be taped playing through Dodonpachi (the original). We need more shooter vids of him circulating in the West. ^^

 

Sounds awesome, I'll see what I can do to make it but I have a race Saturday morning in the city. Might be able to get out there in the evening and enjoy through Sunday.

Awww damn! I would go for the whole weekend, but I have to attend a baby shower Saturday. Hopefully I can come by Friday or Sunday.

Does anyone know of a fairly easy way to get from the city to the destination? I can arrive in chinatown pretty much anytime in the day.
