OK. I changed my mind. HD is waaay to expensive. Especially if I'm going to put my video on youtube.

Can you recommend a good video capture card, please?

    I'm thinking about either buying:

    Option: 1
The Elgato Eyetv Hybrid USB Capture Device -
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/int/mainmenu/products/tuner/hybrid/product1.en.html

    Price: £99.95 + £11.27 for shipping.

    or
    Option: 2
The ADS Pyro A/V Link Box -
    http://www.adstech.com/products/API-557-EFS/intro/api557_intro.asp?pid=API-557-EFS

    Price: £149 including shipping.

[Option 1] is SD capture and to get good capturing you'd have to use and additional method of capture which would require you get to get screen capturing software to capture the video if you wanted to play your game and capture the video without delay (Google: How-To: Capture Xbox 360 Video Footage on an iMac) , but you get freeview for your Mac.

[Option 2] is more expensive, but you can capture HD video without additional software, using the component input this device offers. But of course you'd have to upload your video to something like Stage6.com for people to watch your HD capture, since Youtube is pretty much useless when it comes to HD video.

Course this can't change your choice since you already chose, but you and I are kinda in the same position where you wanna capture your matches and put them online.

Option 2 is just great. £149 is very cheap for HD capture card.
If I won't be satisfied of my card then I go for option 2.

    Big thanks.

Option 2 does not capture in HD.

    PYRO A /V Link w/ Elements (API-557-EFS)

    PYRO A/V Link Specs:
    Capture Resolution:
    NTSC: 720 x 480 @ 30 frames per second
    PAL: 720 x 576 @ 25 frame per second

The black magic is your best bet. It's the same price too I believe. If the conversion is right

C1REX, I'd like to know how good Dazzle is (the TV card that you have bought). Could you update any info about it here as soon as you have tried it out?

I've seen the Black Magic cards, great products, but they have to be internally installed into your computer, which I don't have the option of doing.

I know that 720x576 (480p) is not a full HD resolution, but it's better than using the Dazzle and EyeTv in terms of maintaining picture quality during capture.

These products are the easiest way for someone without an Desktop computer to capture video from any SD or HD source.

I'm late to the thread, but the first thing I would have said is that you don't need HD capture ability if you're just doing YouTube or general internet sharing of videos.

Secondly, you talked about a "TV card" which, to me, implies you want both something to watch TV on, and a card to install inside your computer. But it turns out allyou really wanted was a device for video capture!? Suggestions for the two purposes can vary greatly!

I recently bought the Pinnacle Dazzle Platinum which looks like it's the PC equivalent of the device you bought for your Mac (another thing you didn't mention, it was for a Mac!)

I picked up the Pinnacle Dazzle Platinum on LM_Akira's advice, and I'm really happy with it. My only criticism is that you can only capture with the Pinnacle provided studio software. Thankfully, the software is pretty good.

Another device I would have recommended is the ADVC-110. But, I believe it won't work well with a PAL-60Hz signal, which was a problem for me. Native NTSC or native PAL (50Hz) is perfect though, but note that VF5 on a PAL Xbox 360 plays at PAL-60Hz!

Myke, you have any example videos from using the Pinnacle Dazzle Platinum?

You put up any videos on Youtube?

Yeah, But he was asking for a HD capture card. It's the only reason why I suggested it.

It's propably the best real HD option.
The problem is I prefer external card for my MacBook, otherwise I would go for Black Magic.

Tell me your impressions once you get you package.

I'm doing lots of research, found a few videos of games captured using the Pyro AV kit as well as, the Pinnacle and Eyetv if your interested to see what they look like.

I'm hearing that there are some software problems with the Pinnacle Dazzle Capture Card for Windows? Is that the case, Myke?

(I also ordered the Pinnacle Dazzle Platinum now)

Unsatisfied Pinnacle Dazzle users report (e.g. on Amazon) that:
<ul>[*]You can't use the card with software that is not from Pinnacle[*]The software that comes with the package won't start. You gotta install several fixes from the webpage first.[*]The software itself is buggy and won't come with all features. If you want to export HD-quality material then you gotta buy the package for exporting HD videos (or DIVX, etc) first.[*]No decent Vista support. Again Pinnacle's software seems to be the obstacle here.[/list]

The card will arrive today, so I will know for sure whether that's the case.
