The connection indicator, does people look at it ?

My fellow vfers:

Please don't join other people's game if you saw the connection is bad. I am saying this because it is basically a waste of time for both sides to play under a very laggy condition, you and I won't get better or improve our game.

 

sadly sometimes its the only person you may connect with.

sometimes i get too desperate and go for it anyways.

 

i certainly look at it when searching for matches. if its 1 bar or 0 bar, i don't even bother. 2 is tolerable. 3 & 4 is DEFINITELY playable to the fullest. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif but i DO have fiber optics, so that probably helps me a little.

I guess it's ok on non ranking matches, you can play whoever you want or try to beat a famous player.

but please don't do it on ranking matches. It really gives a bad reputation to your countries vfer.

Here all. I'm one of the VFer from HK. It's really annoying when meeting challengers with poor connection. Especially when it is a ranking match with the challengers PPPPPxn. But I think it is not easy to educate a proper manner in the Internet. For me, I can only recommend HK players to enhance their home network setup. Wish that can help a little bit on total VF5LA atmosphere.

My recommendations are:
1. With proper NAT setting of your router.
2. Do not BT / FTP at the same time when playing VF5LA. Even turn on any BT application without download request will also generate unncessary traffic.
3. Or, use router with QoS function.
4. Do not join room with poor connection.

It doesn't even matter anymore, XBOX LIVE is sooooooooo fucked up right now. At least it gives me more time in the Dojo.

I'll play any connection in Player Match, but I do demand a good connection for ranking (which is why I haven't ranked at all this year). I've played a few games with a grey connection that actually went well. And despite lag, you can still observe helpful play styles of opponents, and test out some stuff of your own.

I will only play people with 3 - 4 bars if it's a laggy game I will not even attempt to play, or I will play it to get it over with and never rejoin..

Actually there have been US players whom I get 4 bars with and the game constantly skips with lag spikes. Those are even worse than playing with someone overseas

I couldn't find a game for most of last night. Luckily I got to play a friend in player matches. I even saw one Goh was waiting for a match but did not join it because of the grey box. I started a room and he joined me! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I don't know why anyone would join a grey room. I have only joined one before by accident when I pressed the wrong button trying to re search.
