The Final Showdown Community Effort!

So lets say Final showdown gets released what exactly will people do to help promote the game?

Will you run tournaments? Will you actually attend some? Will you just be content on playing on-line every day and not contributing anything?

So what are YOU going to do? What CAN you do, however small, to help the community grow?

There is no point in SEGA releasing the game if all people will do is just play on-line. Numbers will just dwindle we need a way to keep people playing. Some of the newbies here have turned into good players now so it's time to pass on your knowledge and expertise to others.


What I will try to do

Organise a fortnight/monthly ranking battles.
Weekly casuals at a stable location.
Video/Audio tutorials on Youtube on a centralised specific Youtube Channel.

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts and ideas. I really do think we can create something really interesting here. Please lets not make this a Sega bitch thread again as there is more than enough on VFDC.

 

Find NH, CH, stance dependant and weight dependant combos for Sarah and Akira and maybe other characters if I like them.

Only time will tell if I attend offline gatherings. As a 16 year old though it's not like I can travel from Leicester to London at my own free will.

That's something I have to ask you aswell Jide.

You're talking about people not getting involved offline and only playing online but will you London heads actually do anything to accommodate for people outside of London? It seems like all you London lot want to do is keep all your gatherings London based. I can't blame you seeings as there's quite a number of (skilled) FG players in London but you're talking about keeping players interested and playing the game (so this must mean not just Londoners).

 

I did try and sort something up here in Glasgow before.

I had a place ready to use and had £500 prize for the winner but no one was interested.

Shame.

If FS came out for consoles I'd be up for attending stuff, possibly hosting stuff and would do as much as I can to help VFDC.

 

Well I'm still putting together offline and online gatherings for VF5. I'll be in it to win it.

 

We have a Poznan Dojo team and Tej City Team in Poznan, Poland. Poznan Dojo (the one I'm in) mostly plays SSF4, other SF games, GG, some play Tekken, and I already started promoting VF there. Most of the people are hyped for FS, so I presume that if it comes out, the next Poznan Dojo Gathering/Tournament will feature VF5FS as well, and of course... I'm gonna win it xD

Tej City Team is a bunch of hardcore Tekken numbnuts, who would piss on VF anytime. Whenever any of them talk to me, they try to be nice, and say things like: "Yeah, it's the best FG, duh! Too bad so few actually play it..."

So, yeah, I am going to organise tourneys in VF provided FS comes out on consoles. Otherwise I will stick to playing offline with a bunch of friends

 

I hate it when people give VF props and say how great it is but never play it.

For all they know it could be completely shit.

I will promote FS just as I have other iterations of VF since 2002.

 

Well, there's a games pub here, where i can setup a gaming zone with the FS, and attract more people to play it.
Other than that i'm running an italian forum with some other people. Actually it's pretty dead, because no one still play vf5 vanilla, with the FS it will change.
Some gatherings will attract people to play it offline.

For the VFDC's community i will help finding some combos, frame data (if needed), and possibly other stuff about every characters i like (wolf first of all). That not only from me, but from other italian guys for sure.

 

I work closely with the NVGA to make sure VF is represented at all their major events (with the exception of the last two). I also volunteer to help with the setup and running of the tourney.

I am a graphic designer though, so I guess I could try to do some advertising as well. If the opportunity arises in the future, I won't pass it up.

Yeah, but it's costly.

Would need several Xboxs and a bunch of memory cards/gig sticks.

My idea was that basically everyone has their own character on a memory card and can play against each other whilst keeping their data over the course of a weekend.

Simulate the arcade experience somewhat.

Nice in theory but it would be difficult to put together.

 

sessions at my house and tourneys at a vennue my dad has and at street fighter tourneys.

 

I'll be buying extra copies too, 1 for PS3 and 1 for 360 for myself and a few more for other people I know who like fighting games but have never really been into VF and probably wouldn't buy a VF game. I'll try and get them to appreciate what's good about this game. It would also help a bit with the sales which is what VF really needs to encourage Sega to put some effort into pushing it.

I was thinking about setting up free sessions at Gamerbase if this came out because the ones we had there before were quite successful and got in new players. If Jide gets these ranking battles and weekly sessions sorted it shouldn't be necessary though, I could try and help out with that instead.

It'd really help if we could get an arcade release in addition to console. When the price of credits dropped for the VF5 arcade here there was quite a big resurgence for the game and quite a few people were showing an interest in getting into VF. I suppose this isn't possible with FS if Sega are using the same methods as with R.

 

Hahaha, if it were actually released...

Well, I know the VF fans here would be playing at least twice a week (As in meeting up at someone's house for stupid long sessions twice a week). It'd be at every Extra Fresh League tournament in Colorado from here on out. And I would be happy. Really happy.

EDIT: Oh and I'd stand by my promise in that I would buy two copies if SEGA actually released it.

I would try to get the community together and stream our various casuals on SRK. At least expose them to VF and go from there.

Would buy a PS3 and 360 copy.

 

If I have the space I'd host when I can, even if it was 1 or 2 peeps or a big tourney/gathering even for other games aswell.
but I'd be pushing for VF of course
