I was just wondering does being hunted irritate people on ranked matches? In my opinion if someone keeps "looking" for you, really you should be honored, especially if you beat them. If they beat you, you should look at it as a challenge. In my opinion at the end of the day, if you're good enough for your "rank." You should have no problem getting it back if you lose it.

    What are your thoughts?

This is coming from a former 10th dan to a 6th back to an 8th.

It's a bitch move. that's what it is. If you're better than me that's fine, no need to make it your personal mission to rank me down. If I don't deserve the rank then I'll get ranked down eventually, but my rank isn't dependant on beating you.

Well you see it's not really about you at all. It's about ranking myself up, more than ranking you down. If you are meant to be in that rank won't it be easy to get it back?

    How do you hunt people?

Well it's easy go to custom match: Set "Find similar" which means the game will look for dans no higher than 2 above or 2 below your rank. After the search stops scroll through the 3 possible opponents by moving your joystick/pad right or left. Chances are
at least at higher dan-nage that the person you just fought will come up in the first or 2nd search. (The 2nd or just wait a second before doing your first search)

A lot of people don't realize you generally have a choice of people to fight and just fight whoever appears first. I did this one time when I was playing you ATTORNEY4HIRE, Jeff vs Jeff.

Now if you always host you can't hunt. You just get what's coming to you. I personally don't host because I don't want to
play Kyus or even low dans. I know there are good players at lower rankings BUT the chances of me playing someone worth anything are higher the higher their rank.

I hunt for people around my rank because I want to rank up and I know the person I'm fighting has a good connection so it won't be laggy. I hate laggers who hunt me down.

SugarMan is right, if you truely deserve your rank you should be able to win some and lose some if someone who could demote you is hunting you. If you do end up losing your rank (that sucks and I'd be pissed) you should be able to get it back. I've demoted my fair share of people. Once it was promotion for me and demotion for him. Damn that was a good fight, I lost though he defiantly wanted it more.

I perosnally would stop playing for a little bit hoping the guy goes off before I'm about to get demoted though.

I always host, mostly because I feel like I have a decent chance to win regardless of who my opponent is. Plus I need to learn to be ready for any style, because the truly good players can change their style mid-match.

it's not even about the rank, If I deserve it I'll get it back no doubt it's just annoying as hell when the same person keeps challenging you over and over and over again, ugh.

I try to rematch and hunt the same players.
I don't mind if somebody do the same to me.

It's more fun and much more udecational.
The same reason I love player matches.

Ive done it many times to increase my bar. I usually send text message afterwards saying nothing personal.

That's cool I usually write "All your base are...."
    Nah, I don't write anything. I actually normally don't
get any complaints either although someone did complain
one time but that's because I kept hitting them at the
    end of the round.

While you maybe can't help but feel irritated, consider if you were playing in the arcade where every match is a potential "ranking" match, and if you're on a machine, you have no say in who challenges you, and people can (and do) hunt you down if you're a similar rank.

    damn right.

if you demote me, you better turn off your 360 or play a different game! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

It only bothers me if the opponents play style irritates me.

If I keep getting challenged by people who turtle or use low punch all way through every round it does annoy me, regardless of whether I win or lose.

I stand my ground if someone just keeps turtling me and wait them out

same here, turtling seems to rarely work in VF. I have no clue why people do it.

To quote Jeneric, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is Broken, BROKEN i say /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Nah, just kidding. Some characters are more suited to it though. For example Shun HAS to turtle at some point in order to build up his drinks.

On topic now, more than half my losses are from Dai Bison but i don't mind, really. Yeah, the satisfaction obtained when i manage to beat him is totally worth it. Really. No seriously, those 4 times were totally worth 100 games. Really.

I'm not trembling with rage as i type this either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

I love playing that guy, i've never won him but the win ratio is irrelevant, I always have fun playing him.

and lol at that little crouching dash he does with the knees.
