On August 25, 2013, the 14th season of VFR had two bay area cup events occurring simultaneously. In the west of Japan, the Kansai Bay Area Cup comes to a dramatic end with their 10th 3on3 event leading to the Climax Series. The Climax Series determines the overall champion of the Kansai Bay Area Cup. In the east of Japan, the 2013 Tokyo Bay Area Cup had its 7th event for the year. Below are links to the video archive of the events and the results (in the spoiler tag)!
Kansai Bay Area Cup - Vol. 9 and Climax Series (14th VFR Season) (Youtube Playlist)
18 Teams (54 players total)
Part 1 (Preliminary League)
Part 2 (Final Tournament Stage - 16 Teams)
Part 3 (Final Tournament Stage - 4 Teams / Climax Series)
Part 4 (Post-Tournament Matches)
The dominating Family Gyouza Team A [Kanzen Nitaku (WO), Mukku (TA), Keisuta (SH)] and Team B [Taka-Chan (Haouru, JA and many other characters) / Raion noko (JA) / Kozou (TA)] took the top 2 spots of the last volume in the Kansai Bay Cup series.
In the Climax Series portion of the event, however, the overall champions for the Kansai Bay Area Cup season was the Kansai San'nou Kai [Ryuuta (LI) / Shounen (TA) / Emaru (WO) / Buruha (SH) / Josephine (Koryuu, PA)]. The 5th overall points rank team climbed over 4 other teams before defeating the 1st rank Family Gyouza Team!
2013 Tokyo Bay Area Cup - Vol. 7 (Ustream Archive)
41 teams (123 players total)
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4 (Final Tournament Stage)
Sarapopy A Team [Ekimae (AO), Demae (WO), Shiwa (PA)] won the 7th VolumeFor those not familiar with the Bay Area Cups, they are 3on3 Team events. However, a team for the overall season can actually have more than 3 players. Thus, teams with four to six players can actually make two 3-person teams to participate in the regular Bay Area Cup events.
The Kansai and Tokyo Bay Area Cups also have a Climax Series at the end of their seasons. The format differs slightly from each other. The format for this Climax Series is:
1. The two 5th overall ranked teams [Kansai San'nou Kai (Koryuu, PA) and Penkimakaron (Yogo, KA)] compete against each other - 3on3 Match
2. The winner from the 1st Climax team match compete against the 4th overall ranked team [Yuunagi Kingdom (YOU, SA)] - 3on3 Match
3. The winner from the 2nd Climax team match will compete against the 3rd overall ranked team [NaaaRaaa (Kissu, BL)] - 4on4 Match
4. The winner from the 3rd Climax team match will compete against the 2nd overall ranked team [Iyakichi (Yodoriba, JE)]- 5on5 Match
5. The winner from the 4th Climax team match will compete against the 1st overall ranked team [Family Gyouza (Kanzen Nitaku, WO)] - 6on6 Match
Note that if a team have less than 6 players total for the season, they will compete in the matches with what they actually have (they cannot have a rental player participate in the Climax Series).
The 14th season of VFR is coming near its end, with just 2 more regular 3on3 events and 5on5 Seed Tournament before the Beat Tribe Cup final event. Mark your calender for Sunday, October 13, 2013!
